How to unlock the quest: through conversation with Downes.

Quest giver: Downes (point 16 on the map).

You can either beat Downes up or give him the crystals.

Sometime after completing the side quest "The Private Store", you can be stopped by Downes while trying to enter the main mages building (point 16 on the map). Downes will suspect the Nameless Hero to carry a large amount of Magic Crystals and he will demand the character to hand some of them to him. You can react to this in two ways - give Downes 6 Magic Crystals (2 positive souls points) or engage him in combat. In the latter case try to avoid his melee attacks. Fortunately, Downes isn't the toughest opponent, so it will be quite easy to defeat him (he will lose consciousness).

Note - during the duel try not to attack any nearby watchmen, who will be watching the fight. Doing so may provoke them to attack you.

Rewards for completing the quest:

• 300 Glory Points (only if you've defeated Downes in a duel)
