How to unlock the quest: through conversation with Agila.
Quest giver: Agila (point 10 on the map)
A watchman named Agila can frequently be found in the central section of the mages camp, near the entrance to the main building (point 10 on the map). Speak with the woman and listen to what she has to say. Agila will offer you to rob three mages from the encampment from their magic crystals. You can start with the quest as soon as possible, or spend some additional gold and buy a couple of hints from Agila about getting to each of the mages' stashes (it's not required if you're going to use this guide).
Note - Agila is a merchant as well as an ability trainer.
All three of the mages you need to steal from can be found in the main building of the mages. Remember that you need to complete a main quest called "Visiting Rights" in order to gain access to the building itself. It's recommended to start off with the mage Nergal - to do so, locate a stairway leading to the basement and go downstairs (point 16 on the map).
You must reach Nergal's Chest, which is located in the room neighboring a chamber in which the mentioned mage works. As the main character doesn't have access to that room, you can try to resolve this problem in two ways. The first option is to barge into the room and plunder the chest as fast as possible, before the mage is able to notice main character's actions. The second one is way better and it assumes the usage of stealth, by using the Sneak ability from the Thievery category. Enter the stealth mode (by pressing appropriate key / button), which will allow you to sneak to the room with the chest unnoticed. Regardless of your choice, collect Nergal's Pouch of Crystals from the chest (200 Glory Points).
The second mage associated with Agila's quest is Lumbrok, and you should be able to find him on the second floor of the main building of mages (point 16 on the map). During the conversation with Lumbrok, bring out the topic of his private chamber, learning that it is protected all the time by a watchman. The good news is, that you will be able to avoid any contact with the guard, as Lumbrok will send the Nameless Hero to pick one of his books.
Locate the stairway leading to the upper floor, which will allow you to reach the place protected by the guard (Room Guard). During the conversation mention that Lumbrok send you to grab his book - you will need to tell him the proper name of the book (Metaphysical Transcendence - the first dialogue option).
You can now enter the chamber and plunder it without much effort. Collect the book (Metaphysical Transcendence), which the mage asked you to bring to him, as well as examine the contents of his chest (Lumbrok's Chest) and steal Lumbrok's Pouch of Crystals (200 Glory Points). You can now go back to Lumbrok and give him the book. As a reward you will be given 100 Glory Points and 10 Gold.
Note - there's a legendary item inside of Lumbrok's Chest, a book called Vague Promises.
The last of the "rich" mages is Faruco, and similar to Lumbrok, you can meet him on the upper floor of the main mages building (point 16 on the map). After initiating a conversation with Faruco, ask the mage about his valuables. The mage will tell you that he hid them inside of a chest, and the key was handled to a gnome called Zakir.
Note - Faruco is also an ability trainer.
Zakir, according to the time of the day, can be found in various places inside of the mages encampment, but he can often be found dragging boxes, near the entrance to the camp (point 6 on the map). Ask the gnome, who won't be willing to tell you that he has the key. You can either pay the gnome 30 Gold or use your Silver Tongue Ability to convince him to tell you that Vetranio has the key.
In accordance to the time of the day, Vetranio should be near the entrance to the mages encampment, near the warehouse or the tavern. Speak with the man and demand him to handle the key to you. You will learn that the man doesn't have the key either. You can either leave Vetranio alone, or drill the topic a little further. If you've chosen the latter option, you will have to either bribe him, steal from him or use Silver Tongue ability. Unfortunately, you won't get anything from doing that.
Meet with the gnome Zakir for the last time, who, after another quarrel, will give Faruco's Key to the Nameless Hero.
You can now go to the main building again (point 16 on the map). Faruco's chamber is on the upper floor and unauthorized people have no access here. You can, analogously to what you have done with Nergal's Chest, barge into the room and plunder it, or to use your Sneak, and search through the chamber without breaking a sweat. Faruco's Pouch of Crystals are located in his left chest (200 Glory Points).
After you've done it all, go back to Agila (point 8 on the map) and inform him of all thefts.
Note - in Lumbrok's Chest there's a hidden earring, called Zakir's Auri Culci, which is associated with the side quest of the gnome Zakir.
Rewards for completing the quest:
- 400 Glory Points
