How to unlock the quest: through conversation with Jaffar.

Quest giver: Jaffar

Jaffar can be found in the mages encampment, on the Taranis Island.

The chance to unlock and complete this quest will appear after reaching the crystal mages encampment, located on the Taranis Island. After reaching the camp, search for a gnome called Jaffar and speak with him. Jaffar will ask the Nameless Hero to aid him in pull his subordinate Ali to the watchmen (Guardians).

Meet with Ali and general Magnus.

Begin by searching for Ali, who should be hiding nearby, and promise the man to help him - it will make the gnome join the party temporarily. Afterwards, speak with general Magnus, who should be near the entrance to the main mages building. From Magnus you will learn that the watchmen don't recruit gnomes, but he can change his mind if Ali will prove his worth (100 Glory Points).

Let Ali win the duel with the Nameless Hero.

Speak with Ali and accept the plan to have a honorable duel. The only way to prove the gnome's value is to lose the fight on purpose. After the fight starts, do not attack Ali at all, but allow him to empty the health bar of the Nameless Hero (the hero looses consciousness for a short while). You can now go back to Magnus, who should be willing to recruit a new cadet. Finally, go to Ali and Jaffar and pass on the good news.
