Starfield: How to rename a ship?
All owned ships in Starfield have names. This page of the guide tells you how to rename a ship and whether full freedom of name choice applies.
Last update:
In Starfield, there is an option to change the name of every currently owned starship. On this page of our guide, we show how to access the ship renaming menu, which will require a visit to a Ship Services Technician.
Visiting a Ship Services Technician
- Every starship you have in your fleet has a name, for example, the vessel with which you start the game is named Frontier. Interestingly enough, there is an option in the game to change the name of any owned ship, although not that evident.
- The process of renaming starts with visiting any Ship Services Technician - their full list and exact locations can be found on the Shipyards page.
Renaming a ship
- Talk to the technician and choose I'd like to view and modify my ships and then enter the Shipbuilder menu.
- Once in the wizard, press the Flight Check button (C on keyboard by default).
- A window will appear with information regarding the state of currently chosen ship's systems. Look to the bottom right corner of the screen to find the renaming option (or alternatively press G on keyboard).
- You can now input a completely new name for the ship or modify the existing one. There is also an option to choose a randomized name from the pool prepared by the developers.
