On this page of our guide you'll learn all about ladders in Starfield. We describe can you use ladders, how to use them and are all ladders climbable.
Climbing up and down ladders
- You can climb ladders in Starfield. They appear on spaceship and let you move between its floors.
- The game automatically switches to third-person when interacting with the ladder.
- If you'd like to get off the ladder, press "A" or "D"/tilt the analog stick to the side when near the floor.
- NPCs and enemies can also climb ladders. It takes them a while, so enemies are easy targets when climbing.
Ladders in Starfield can be problematic, especially when building and modifying ships.
- Habs are ship parts that can be connected, even vertically. If you build them in the ship mod menu, you'll be able to move around them while on board.
- Habs cannot be rotated. You therefore can't move the ladders connecting them.
- If your ship is particularly large, with many habs and floors, don't waste time on ladders. Remember you can teleport yourself to the cockpit from anywhere on the map, or enter it directly by the landing bay, as long as you're not overencumbered.
Loading screens
- Some ladders in Starfield can't be climbed. They lead to the deck of a ship.
- These ladders are purely cosmetic and climbing them triggers a loading screen.
