Collecting loot is very important in Starfield, although it is not necessarily obvious how to do it in the case of spaceships. Our guide shows you how to collect loot from destroyed ships and what treasures may be hidden in containers floating in space.
Chests left by wrecked ships
- Each ship you destroy (enemy or civilian) will leave behind a loot container. Unfortunately, this loot will not be collected automatically - you will have to pick it up yourself.
- After the fights are over, activate the scanner - this will make it easier to search the area of the battle. The loot chest has its own icon (example in the picture) and aiming at it can additionally display information about the distance from the target.
- White arrows may appear on the edges of the HUD leading to other areas where there is something interactive. This could be, among other things, loot from a destroyed ship.
In some systems, you can also find floating containers, which are not the remains of destroyed ships. You can and should open them too.
Chest content
- Fly to the crate - if necessary, reduce the flight speed when you get closer.
- Press the interaction key (by default E on the keyboard and A on the controller). This should display the contents of the container. Similarly to the "traditional" chests, you can take everything out from it or just selected items.
- In the floating chests you can mainly find credits and various crafting materials. They can also have ship parts or consumables.
