Autosaves

1. In Starfield, the game can automatically save progress in many situations. This mainly happens when loading a new map or location, for example, after landing on a planet or entering/exiting a building.
2. You can adjust additional auto-save moments In the Gameplay tab in the option menu. These include saving during rest, speeding time flow, quick travel, and pauses (you can determine how often a new save should be created).

1. A practical feature is that progress can be saved at the end of the session when returning to the main menu, desktop, or console dashboard. This will allow you to resume the game exactly where you ended it.

Manual saves

Manual saving is unavailable for the first few to several minutes of the game. It will be available for the first time after creating a character in the creator. The game may still temporarily restrict manual saves, for example, during crucial moments in the story.

You can use quick or manual saves - it's worth creating the latter on separate slots to be able to return to different moments in the game. We recommend saving the game:

1. Before an important choice in the quest - you will be able to check various options and choose the best reward for completing the mission;
2. Before attempting Persuasion - the success chance is random and in case of failure, you can try again;
3. Before starting a challenging battle - it may protect you from losing a large amount of health or severe damage to the ship;
4. Before lockpicking or pickpocketing - such activities can easily be classified as crimes, and in the case of lockpicking, there is also a risk of wasting digital lockpicks.
