Starfield: Are there map boundaries? Starfield guide, tips
Can the planets in Starfield be explored without restrictions? Here you will find the answer to this question.

In Starfield, you can land on many planets and explore their surfaces. Our guide explains whether exploration has any restrictions.
Starfield - end of the map
In Starfield, as in other Bethesda games, maps have boundaries.
- After moving a few thousand meters away from the place where you landed, the game will stop you and display the message saying: "Boundary reached. Open the map to explore another region, or return to your ship."
- If you turn off this message and try to continue walking forward, you will encounter an invisible wall. A message informing that you cannot go any further will also be displayed in the corner of the screen.
What to do to continue exploring the planet?
If, despite encountering boundaries, you want to continue exploring the surface of a given planet to get missing minerals or discover new places, then you must:
- enter the starmap;
- set a new landing spot - for example, on the other side of the planet;
- choose the "travel" option.
You can also teleport to outposts that you have previously visited or larger cities and landing zones.
