Mantis is a side quest in Starfield, of completing which you can earn a good suit and a ship. Our walkthroug hexplains how to start the quest and how to solve the Mantis puzzle.

On this page we describe a side quest in Starfield called Mantis. We explain how to start this quest, how to solve the puzzle with the buttons on the floor, and how to get the legendary Razorleaf ship and spacesuit.

Finding the note

1. To start the Mantis quest, you must loot the spacer's corpse and find the note: Secret outpost!. However, the location where you find the corpse with the note is completely random, so you must loot as many corpses as possible. You can, but you don't have to, find the note in the reclaimed outposts where there are often many spacers.
2. Open your inventory, select the "Notes" and read the one about the secret outpost.
3. You must go to the Denebola system on the moon Denebola I-b.

Clash with spacers

1. When you land at the secret outpost, you'll be attacked by spacers. In a clash, use covers to defeat them.
2. Enter the building. Prepare yourself for a fight with the spacers.

1. You can gather additional information by listening to the intercom recording and by killing the spacer scum - collect the note from his body and play it. Later, you'll come across another scum and the subsequent recordings.
2. Go down the stairs all the way to the bottom. You have to defeat the spacer vulture. Keep shooting from behind a cover and use med packs, as this opponent is quite difficult. Also beware of other spacers.
3. Talk to Livvey. You can either kill him or spare his life; the decision doesn't really matter.
4. Go to the next room.

Mantis puzzle

1. You have to solve the puzzle. To achieve this, stand on the correct letters positioned on the floor and arrange them accordingly to form a word in order to solve the puzzle. If you choose the wrong letter, the turrets will start shooting at you.
2. The answer to the puzzle is in one of the recordings that you could have listened to before. You must stand on the panels to form the word "Tyrannis."
3. You can bypass the puzzle if you have a high level of Security skill. There is a computer in front of the room with the letters. If you hack it, you'll get to the other side safely.

1. In the room with turrets, press the button to proceed.
2. You can listen to the intercom recording to learn more about the place.
3. You'll eventually reach the Lair of Mantis. You'll encounter robots there - attack them with your best weapon.

Rewards

1. You need to get to the room with the mannequin. To get the Mantis spacesuit, simply open the glass door and take the armor.
2. The Mantis set includes a spacesuit, a pack, and a helmet. All items are legendary and provide multiple bonuses.

1. Go to the main hall and activate the Mantis ship by using the switch. Next, go to the elevator.
2. Open the door using the computer and go to the surface.
3. At the landing site, board the Razorleaf ship - it's now in your possession. You don't have to register it in order to make modifications. Razorleaf is a class A ship.
4. When you reach the landing site, the quest will end.
