First Contact is a side mission that you will receive when you reach the Porrima II system. In our walkthrough to Starfield you will learn how to resolve the situation with the colonists aboard the ZOK Constant.

First Contact is a side mission that is activated when you enter the Porrima II system. The ECS Constant ship will contact you there, asking for your help regarding the colonists.

Meeting with Captain Brackenridge

1. Travel to the planet Porrima II in the Porirma system. You will receive a distress signal from an unidentified ship. Fly to it and dock. Next, talk to Captain Brackenridge.
2. After accepting the task, you must go to the city called Paradiso. Talk to boss Sugiyama and then go to the location marked with a blue marker to talk to an NPC called Oliver Campbell.

Negotiations and possible choices

During the conversation with Oliver, you will learn about three potential solutions to the problem. You can:

1. Settle colonists on the planet Porrima II - this task, however, will require having a very large amount of specific materials to build housing for them. From a moral perspective, they will then be servants of the Paradiso government until they repay their debt.
2. Buy the gravity drive - it is the best solution, but expensive. The price is 40,000 credits. After a successful persuasion test, this amount will be reduced to 25,000 credits.
3. Destroy the ship's reactor and get rid of the problem - this is the worst choice, especially from a moral perspective. Your companions may be very dissatisfied with this decision.

Best solution with gravity drive

Proceed to the Valo system and to the planet Polvo. Land in Hopetown. In the Hopetech store you can get a gravity drive for 40,000 credits (or 25,000 if you managed to convince the seller). Return to the ECS Constant ship and talk to Amin. He will tell you about arranging three things.

1. The first one is to set the power level of the plasma outflow inhibitor to 5%. You will do this in the engineering control computer beta.
2. The second one is to approach another computer and transfer power from the Turbopomp - Port to the Cryogenic Radiator - Auxiliary.
3. In the third terminal, select the option: Magnetic Flange Pipe Enclosures, then Decouple, and finally Auxiliary Module Assembly.

At the very end, you just need to go to Captain Brackenridge, talk to her, and finish the mission. You will receive XP, Modified Calibrated XM-2311, 15x Caliber 11.43 MM ACP, x2 Antique Earth Baseball, antique piggy bank, 2x Antique Basketball and 3x Antique Earth Hokey Stick.
