In Starfield, you can sell survey data obtained by exploring and scanning planets and moons. On this page of the guide, you will learn who is the best person to share survey data with and how to get as many credits as possible for it.
Obtaining survey data
- As a reminder, to explore a planet, in most cases, you need to explore its surface to discover and survey enough resources, fauna, flora and traits (unique locations to scan). We have described these steps in more detail on a separate page How to survey a planet in 100%?.
- In the case of some objects in the galaxy (especially moons), there is a chance that the survey will take place automatically after performing a scan from orbit, without the need to land on the surface and perform additional activities.
- You will automatically obtain survey data every time a given planet or moon on the galaxy map gets the Surveyed status (like the moon Phobos in the example in the picture).
Selling data
- Survey data is stored in the Notes tab in the inventory and weighs nothing, i.e. it does not burden the inventory.
- The game allows you to sell survey data to all merchants. You don't have to go back to a specific person. This is a great facilitation, because you can get rid of new data obtained during galaxy exploration faster. You can only sell each survey data once, so it is not an unlimited source of credits.
- By default, you should get 600-650 credits for a single survey data. We recommend waiting with selling them until you develop the Commerce skill - its higher ranks allow you to sell the same items at higher prices. At the highest 4th rank, you can receive even 25% more credits.
