Quest giver: Booze [#1] - The Sugar Trade - Tacarigua - Quests - Risen 2: Dark Waters - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Quest giver: Booze [#1]

When you deliver the letter from Roquefort [#2] to Booze [#1] in the pirate tavern (see: Pirate Post), the innkeeper will ask you to take the answer back to the governor. You can agree to do it right away or play as a courier later - the quest will not be forfeited if you refuse to take it the first time.

If you've unsealed the letter written by governor Di Fuego [#3], you probably know now that the conflict between the two factions concerns the sugar shipment seized by the pirates. The sea rovers need it to brew rum, but the Inquisition is not in the habit of tolerating theft. The governor of Puerto Sacarico demands compensation in liquor, to which Booze doesn't agree. The innkeeper decides to pay the equivalent in gold, but suggests to burden the quartermaster Pedro [#4] with the costs, as he once used to take the sugary stock out of the warehouses.

If you don't want to pay the Inquisitors out of your own pocket, you should talk to Pedro first. Once the quartermaster hears about the situation, he will give you 200 Gold without turning his nose up. You can also demand 100 Gold more - your Intimidate skill should be at least 20 to succeed. If you're not skilled enough, there's nothing stopping you from trying again later. You can also ask Pedro for money after completing the quest.

Pedro will give you the money to compensate the Inquisitors.

The mission ends the moment you inform Di Fuego about bringing the answer to his letter. The governor will ask how much the pirates offer for the stolen sugar. Booze didn't price it, so you can improvise. There are three possibilities:

  • 100 Gold - the governor will take it as an insult and won't agree at first. To change his mind, you'll need Silver Tongue at least at 30. The Nameless Hero will ask the governor for the reward promised by Roquefort, but Di Fuego answers that since he's the one who offered you extra money, he has to pay it out of his own pocket. We'll take care what to do about in a moment.
  • 200 Gold - the governor will accept the amount as satisfactory, but won't hide he expected more. The Nameless Hero will ask for a reward for delivering the letter, but Di Fuego answers that since Roquefort offered to pay you for doing a courier's work, it's his job to do it. How to receive the promised reward is described below.
  • 300 Gold - Di Fuego will be satisfied with the amount of the compensation, and will even give you a bonus of 100 Gold for a great job in resolving the situation.
Fighting Roquefort isn't a bad idea - it's always 75 Glory points more. - The Sugar Trade - Tacarigua - Quests - Risen 2: Dark Waters - Game Guide and Walkthrough
Fighting Roquefort isn't a bad idea - it's always 75 Glory points more.

In the two cases mentioned above, you'll have to go to Roquefort and ask him for the reward promised for delivering the letter. The soldier doesn't have the slightest intention of living up to his end of the bargain, and you'll be forced to use persuasive arguments:

  • You can bully him if your Intimidate skill is at least 30. If it is, Roquefort will give up the payment right away.
  • You can threaten him into a fight. If you win, Roquefort will give up the money in the following conversation. If you lose, the subject of the payment will be definitely closed.

The best solution is to extract the whole sum from Pedro (300 Gold), pay governor Di Fuego as little as possible (100 Gold) and then get the money from Roquefort. Altogether, these schemes can earn you 300 Gold. Don't forget to go back to Booze for his reward - 5 bottles of Rum.

Rewards:

  • 100 Glory points for completing the quest;
  • 75 Glory points for defeating Roquefort after you force him to fight;
  • 300 Gold if you choose the best possible solution;
  • 5 bottles of Rum for informing Booze about the completion of the quest.
