The Jaguar Cave | The Sword Coast - Quests Risen 2 Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
Quest giver: Martinez [#1]
This quest is part of: 4 Muskets Against Crow
This quest is part of a set of missions available to the Inquisition, but they can be completed before declaring to work for Commandant Sebastiano!
Leave Puerto Isabella by the east entrance [#2] and use the only path forward. Several meters from where Euzebio is standing guard, you'll meet Martinez [#1]. He's a particularly vulgar and nasty fellow who attempts to hunt down a Jaguar wandering the area. If you're not put off by the way he speaks to you, you can volunteer to help him.
It doesn't matter in the slightest how you steer the conversation with Martinez during your first meeting. It only matters how it ends:
- If you tell him to go hunting by himself, he'll run straight to the cave in which the Jaguar is lurking [#3]. He won't go too deep, though, so he won't meet the animal face to face. The quest won't even begin. If you slay the animal yourself, you'll complete the mission but won't receive the reward for informing the Inquisitor of the kill.
- If you agree to the joint hunt, you'll run to the cave together. The current quest will begin.
Follow Martinez until you reach the cave - the trip isn't too long because the cave is just a few meters farther. The soldier will stop at a fork it the road and tell you to hunt the animal down. Chose the corridor on the right and soon you'll find yourself in a huge cavern . Attack the Jaguar and slay it to complete the quest. You can of course inform the soldier about the kill; you'll be rewarded with additional coin. The Inquisitor - for lack of better things to do - will head to Puerto Isabella.
A few things to sum up:
- If you eliminate the Jaguar without talking to Martinez first, you'll complete the quest anyway. You can tell him about it later, but he won't give you the additional 50 Gold!
- It's a good idea to refrain from doing this quest until you start the Trophies mission, given to you by the commandant's daughter - Isabella [#4]. She will give you a Hunting knife which you can use to skin some of the defeated animals. This way you can kill two birds with one stone, because the Jaguar skin is required to complete the Trophies quest.
- It pays to search the cave with the Jaguar. In the neighboring chamber you can find a Treasure map (see: The Treasure in the Valley of the Jaguar).
Rewards:
- 100 Glory points for completing the quest;
- 100 Glory points for killing the Jaguar;
- 50 Gold for informing Martinez about the completion of the quest.
