Old Grave Plundered | Tacarigua - Quests Risen 2 Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
This quest is part of: Become a Pirate
While exploring the island you'll surely come across some monumental buildings, remainders of a long lost civilization. Plundering them will pay off, but will also be very dangerous - they are guarded by extremely challenging opponents.
The person who tells you about the tombs and the risks they pose is Asad [#1], a local forced to work on the sugar cane plantation. You won't trigger the quest by talking to him, though. The mission will appear in your logbook only after you have plundered any of the ruins (plundering meaning finding the hall with the Idol and taking it from the pedestal). There are three such idols on the island, and you can find them in two different tombs. It's worth mentioning that taking all of them is not necessary. To complete the quest, you only need to get one.
The Grave in the Cave
Head to Vasco's tower [#2] and start climbing up, carefully watching the rock slope to your right. Keep going straight ahead until you reach the cave farthest to the north [#3]. The entrance to the tomb is inside, but before you can open it you'll be forced to fight a Grave Spider that lives here.
The creature is not only huge, but also very dangerous, which you'll find out soon enough. With Patty at your side, use her to draw its attention away from you, and take your time to attack it from a distance. Close combat is a complete waste of time and healing measures - if you're not expert in melee combat, it will be ages before you succeed. The best solution by far is to attack from a safe distance and run away if the creature comes too close.
Once you've dealt with it, don't forget to take the Golden head from its corpse; then return to the cave's entrance and find the gate leading to the tomb. You can open the door by placing the idol in the Lock right next to it. Move forward, killing the mild Rats on the way and defeating a Warrior. At the end of the route you'll see a pedestal with an Idol on it. If you lift it, you'll trigger a trap in the corridor. In order to avoid death by a murderous blade, press Space when a proper command appears on the screen.
The Grave in the Gorge
The second tomb [#4] is located the central part of the island, in the same gorge where Pete (see: Pete's Treasure) buried his chest. In the first chamber you'll find only a sarcophagus, but it's a good idea to loot it anyway - there are valuable items inside. The corridors leading to the idols are a little above the ground, so you'll have to lift up to get to them.
West corridor - there are no enemies here, so getting to the Idol won't be a problem. When you take it, a trap will be triggered. If you wish to avoid being cut into little pieces, quickly press Space when the proper command appears on the screen.
East corridor - here it won't be that easy, as the passage to the idol is guarded by a Ghoul. The living corpse is a quick and challenging opponent, but the fight is still way easier than with the Grave Spider. After defeating the undead, use the only available way forward, looting another sarcophagus on the way. When you take the Idol at the end, traditionally a trap will be triggered. This time the floor will collapse beneath you - if don't press Space in the right moment, you'll fall one floor down. I don't recommend falling down if you're a new and fresh character, because you'll meet a particularly nasty Guard there. He's a gigantic opponent which poses a huge challenge even to an advanced warrior.
Summary
After obtaining any of the three idols, report to Captain Steelbeard [#5] and tell him all about your courageous deed. Naturally, this achievement influences your reputation with the pirate - if you're thinking about joining his crew, this is another step in the right direction. You can find more information on this subject in the Become a Pirate quest description.
Before leaving the island, think about plundering all the tombs. The items you can acquire are very valuable.
Rewards:
- 100 Glory points for completing the quest;
