The Natives | The Sword Coast - Quests Risen 2 Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
Quest giver: Steelbeard [#1]
Having eliminated the enemies occupying the observation tower (see: Defeat the Lookouts at the Tower), you can now ask Steelbeard [#1] to help you get to the city of Puerto Isabella, the headquarters of the Inquisition on the Sword Coast, or to the village of the Shaganumbi tribe, located in the east. The present quest describes the second option. If you're ready to begin, inform the captain.
Before you proceed, a few things to keep in mind. The quest is comprised of several smaller missions which are completed in a predetermined sequence. During the trip, the captain will be your guide and will lead the party instead of you. Every time you decide to deviate from the path you won't be left behind, because Steelbeard will always patiently wait for your return. Patty, on the other hand, will stay close to you, which means you'll be able to use her in exploring other locations and eliminating additional enemies. As for the rewards for the enemies killed by your companions, there are only two cases in which they won't go to your account - in the Monkey Business and Hidden Lookouts quests.
The trip to the Natives' village is comprised of the following missions:
- To the Natives - triggered automatically upon making the decision. Steelbeard will start running west and stop only a few meters further, before a cave [#2].
- Farther Inland - the second stage of the trip isn't too much of a distance, either. You and your companions will go through a short tunnel [#3] only to listen to the captain's remarks about the dangers lying in the valley. Although the game suggests a choice in which way to take, the pirate will still decide upon going over a pass.
- Over the Pass - this part, for a change, is a little longer. You'll stop only at a large cave [#4] which will give Steelbeard a very bad feeling. He'll send you ahead to check it out, and wait himself at the entrance. Patty will also leave your party so as to keep her father company.
- The Cave at the Pass - there is a group of enemies [#5] consisting of two Hunters and one Pirate at the end of a long corridor. If you don't wish to alarm them of your presence, simply sneak up towards their camp and wait for the game to complete the quest. It will be enough for the captain when you report back to him and proceed on your way (see: Down into the Valley). You can also choose and aggressive variant which assumes surprising the unaware cave dwellers. There is another quest devoted to the following fight.
- Hidden Lookouts - an optional quest which is completed after you defeat the enemies from the cave. It's definitely worth doing since there are some valuable items in their camp, for example the Map of the Sword Coast. You can find detailed information on the fight in the description of the quest.
Defeating the lookouts isn't mandatory, but it's better to beat the pants off them.
- Down into the Valley - having reported back to Steelbeard about the cave dwellers, you're free to continue. Unfortunately, the trip will come to a brutal stop a few meters further [#6]. This time the old pirate won't like the sight of a pack of Tough Blueclaw Monkeys blocking the way to the river. There is a different quest devoted to eliminating the animals.
- Monkey Business - you don't have a choice, you have get rid of the creatures. The blueclaw monkeys are tougher than their regular clawed cousins, but shouldn't be too much of a problem in general. After killing them, report back to the captain and be on your way.
- Just a Little Farther - the one before last stage of the joint trip, which will not abound in any surprises. Follow the captain patiently, and after a while the three of you will arrive at a river [#7].
- Across the River - nothing too complicated. The captain will announce that the Natives' village is on the other side of the river, and head in that direction [#8]. With nothing better to do, cross the river and enjoy the completion of the quest.
Steelbeard is afraid of a possible meeting with Captain Crow, so as soon as the mission is over he'll decide to go back to the observation tower [#1]. Patty will also leave you, being under the delusion that if she goes with her father, he'll give her information on his legendary treasure. Once your companions reach their destination, you'll be able to take them on another quest, this time to Puerto Isabella (see: Crow's Ship).
Rewards:
- 100 Glory points for completing the quest.
