Passing through the portal behind the Ornate Mirror is one of the actions you need to perform in order to access the mage's laboratory in depths below Blighted Village taken over by Goblins. Once interacted, the Mirror will ask you a series of questions. Correct answers will unlock access to further rooms. Incorrect answers, however, will anger the mirror, activating a trap.
How to answer the questions of the Ornate Mirror?
After approaching the mirror, the object will ask a series of questions to the player. This is how the answers should look like:
- Question about the name - either answer honestly or use an option related to your race. Both will take you to the next question.
- Question about allegiance - introduce yourself to the mirror as an ally.
- Question about allegiance to Szass Tam - say that he is a foul lich and deserves thousands of deaths.
- Question about uses of balsam ointment - answer that it is used to clean wounds.
- The question about what the hero would like to see - an accepted answer is a spell that will free the hero from the parasite.
If you choose the following answers, the Mirror will recognize you as an ally of its master and allow you to access the laboratory.
Any incorrect answer will activate a trap - from the inside of the mirror, a metallic levitating sphere will appear, giving the party a taste of steam of fire. What's worse, the trap will also destroy nearby coffins from which aggressive undead will emerge. The undead are strong in numbers, which makes the eventual battle against them very difficult, so it is better to avoid this scenario.
Alternative methods of getting through the mirror
Giving correct answers is not the only option to access the portal behind the mirror. Almost any hero can try to intimidate the mirror. This will result in an Intimidation roll. If successful, the mirror will get scared and let you through. However, failing the roll will activate the trap.
Some classes may have access to alternative methods of solving the problem of the Mirror. A barbarian, for example, can attempt to shatter the Mirror with a stone. If the associated Strength roll was successful, the mirror will be destroyed, and the party can continue.
