Baldur's Gate 3: Can you transfer save from the early access? Baldurs Gate 3 guide, walkthrough
Our guide explains whether you can transfer saves in BG3 - from the early access edition to the full version. This may be important for those who want to preserve progress and continue struggling based on the early access version.

Baldur's Gate 3 was an extensive game even in early access, and you could spend a lot of time with it. This guide page answers the question - is it possible to transfer saves from Early Access to the full version of the game, to save the time on replaying the campaign from the beginning.
Saving progress in early access
- The subsequent builds of the early access version of BG3 had the option to make manual and auto saves. This was very helpful in spending dozens of hours with the early access version.
- There have been several progress resets after which old saves stopped working. This happened after major updates, in which things like quests, locations, or important gameplay mechanics were changed.
Can you use saves from Early Access in the final release?
- Unfortunately, there is no option to transfer saves from the early access version to the full game. If you upload them to the directory with the saves from the full version of BG3, the game will not recognize them.
- After updating BG3 to the final version, you will have to start a new campaign, i.e. create a new character, and replay the game from the beginning. Being familiar with the quests and the gameplay mechanics can help, although the final version will also offer a lot of novelties related to character development and available quests. So, even those players who have already gone through the beginning of the game several times in subsequent EA versions should not get bored.
