On this page of the Baldurs Gate 3 guide, you will find tips for leveling and experience gathering. You'll learn the methods of experience gaining.
How do I get experience points?
Experience points are earned involuntarily during the game. They are awarded for actions which you perform during gameplay. These are:
- completing tasks - this is the simplest and at the same time the best way to gain experience points. After completing each quest, you'll receive a certain amount of XP.
- combat - another source of XP is combat. Each opponent killed by your team yields a specific number of experience points, depending on his type and strength;
- passing skill rolls - at certain points in the game, you'll have an option to perform a skills roll. If you decide to do it, and it is successful, you will get a certain number of XP;
- exploration - you get experience points for discovering interesting locations on the world map.
The game records how much XP you have gained while playing. To learn how much XP you've amassed during playing, you need to expand the bar on the right side of the screen. You will find information about the activities performed by the character and the experience points awarded.
However, you must bear in mind that this list is confined to a particular session. This means that once the game is turned off and restarted, the list will be empty.
Why do I need experience points?
Experience points (XP) are a measure of your team's development. Each member has a special bar that shows his progress, as shown in the screenshot below.
Once a character gets enough XP to fill the bar, he advances to a higher level. Received points can be spent on stats or to learn new abilities. Higher experience level will also allow you to face increasingly powerful opponents.
