Encountering Myrnath in the Prologue
- The talking brain can be encountered soon after beginning the Prologue taking place onboard the airship Nautiloid. When in the second circular chamber, examine the southern area. You'll encounter Myrnath, a victim of experiments.
- After examining Myrnath, a talking brain called Us will accost you. He will ask the hero to release him.
Destroy or preserve the talking brain?
- Two options here are destroying or safely removing the Intellect Devourer. Destroying the brain is the easiest option here - simply choose the right choice from the list.
- The second option - removing the brain - requires successful completion of several Skill and Ability Checks. These are - Investigation (examining the brain), Medicine (careful removal of the brain), Strength (breaking the skull to remove the brain) and Dexterity (careful extraction of the Intellect Devourer) Other Checks may appear e.g. based on class or Proficiency of the hero.
- If you have successfully removed the brain, you can pass an optional Dexterity check to mutilate it.
- Alternatively, you can leave the talking brain intact.
Recruiting Us as a companion
- In the conversation that ensues, you can allow the Intellect Devourer to join the party, refuse it, or attack it.
- If recruited, the talking brain helps in combat throughout the prologue and reaching the bridge, as he is equipped with claws.
- The brain will die as a result of events of the finale of the Prologue, which means you begin Act 1 alone. He won't appear again.
