A very interesting tactical move in Baldur's Gate 3 is to throw characters - party members or opponents. In our guide you will find information on the limitations when choosing a character to throw, on its potential uses in fights, and on how to give a command to throw another person.
Rules of throwing party members and opponents
- The most important limitation is that you can only throw small characters. This option is available for the Halflings and Gnomes. The player, however, cannot throw Dwarves, who are too heavy despite their short stature.
- Throwing selected enemies and monsters is also allowed, but the size and weight criteria also apply here. Among the enemy types you can throw are the common variations of Goblins. These creatures are not large and relatively light.
- Throwing characters can have various uses in fights. For example, you can throw an ally into a place from which they can easily attack, while the enemy into an explosive barrel or somewhere that would make them more vulnerable.
- The main requirement for performing a throw is to have a strong character. Choose a hero who has the most Strength points. The throw is selected from the action menu, then you need to highlight an ally or enemy and finally choose where you want to throw. Of course, this action consumes an action point.
From a separate page of our guide, you will learn How to throw items. You can do this, e.g. to throw melee weapons or objects that will serve as bombs.
