The Karmic Dice option found in the game's settings doesn't quite explain what it means. On this page, we explain what Karmic Dice are, what their purpose is and whether to turn them on or off.
What do Karmic Dice do?
In short, Karmic Dice is a luck-influencing mechanic. Most attacks and checks in Baldur's Gate 3 are invisible dice rolls. There's a chance you can get a series of very poor or very good rolls. Activating Karmic Dice slightly affects these rolls, making failure streaks less likely.
Enable or disable Karmic Dice?
Contrary to how it seems, enabling Karmic Dice doesn't necessarily make the game easier. Your dice rolls will get better, yes, but so will your enemies', who usually outnumber you.
On the other hand, disabling Karmic Dice can cause frustrating failure streaks, putting you in difficult situations.
In summary - Karmic Dice are to balance out randomness. If you'd prefer to let luck decide, turn them off.
