STALKER 2: Subtle Matter

The Subtle Matter mission is part of the main storyline of STALKER 2. Skif will activate a special capsule within it, allowing him to connect with the consciousness of the dead Strider. At the end of the mission, you will also have to make a very important decision, which will affect your relationship with the Spark faction and the ending of the game.

How to find the chamber?
The Subtle Matter mission will start immediately after the end of the Legends of the Zone quest. Head to the Orbita station in the Burnt Forest region. As you travel to the location, be cautious of the often occurring anomalies in the area.
Enter the station area through the main gate (from the south), and then enter the circular building. Be careful, because a poltergeist is haunting the main hall.
In the corridor, you will find a door protected by a code. Enter the combination received from the Doctor - 1995.
Enter the office straight ahead and take all the necessary items from the desk.
Go outside (the door in the next room). Climb the ladder onto the roof. Use bolts to make your way through the anomalies.
Approach the antenna and turn it on. Then quickly run away to avoid psionic damage.
Go back to the courtyard and go down the stairs to the basement. You will open the door using the card taken from Kaymanov's desk.
Descend into the depths of the X15 laboratory. Your next task will be to kill three mutants (Burers) rampaging around the facility.
Remember that Burers can knock weapons out of your hands and attack with telekinesis. Also, don't shoot when they raise blue force field.
What to say to Strider?
Once you defeat all the mutants, the mission objective will automatically update. Go to the large room with a chamber. Install the cartridge found in the previous mission in the technical room.
Enter the capsule and watch the cutscene with Strider.
When the leader of the South asks if his attack on SIRCAA was successful, you can tell the truth or lie. This choice doesn't affect the plot, so you can choose the option that seems more appropriate to you without any consequences.
Which option to choose in a conversation with Scar?
After the vision is over, Scar, together with the Spark, will pull you out of the capsule. After a short conversation, you will face a choice that will determine your faction affiliation in the final part of the game, and will also directly affect the ending.
- If you choose "Life is for the living," Scar and the rest of the Spark will become hostile towards you. Select this option if you wish to go towards the ending of Strielok, Kaymanov, or Ward.
- If you choose "Eternal spring," you will ultimately ally with the Spark faction. Choosing this option is necessary if you want to see the ending of Spark.
In this walkthrough, we decided to choose the "Life is for the living" option. The mission ending presented below is exclusive to this particular path.
How to escape from X15 laboratory?
Your next task will be to escape from X15. Remember that from now on, the representatives of Spark become hostile towards you.
While crouching, turn left. Sticking to the shadow on the right side, go through the entire room. Wait until the soldier patrolling the area passes you.
Sneak behind the back of the Spark patrolling the corridor. Then turn left before the gate.
Sneak through the next corridor. At the end, steel gates are waiting for you, which you will open with the code 4221.
Go through the large hangar, and then go down to the tunnel using the ladder.
The ventilation shaft will lead you to the railway tunnel. Be careful, because a horde of rats is waiting for you downstairs.
Climb the ladder to the next tunnel, which will lead you outside. A moment later, the mission will come to an end.
