STALKER 2: In Search of a Guide
In Search of a Guide is a quest from the main storyline of STALKER 2. From this walkthrough page, you will learn how to get information about Clear Sky, how to survive a mutant attack and what to do with Nible.
Last update:
During the mission In Search of a Guide, Skif will inquire about the mysterious Clear Sky faction. On this guide page, we will suggest to you, whether it's better to go for information to the Skadovsk's or Shevchenko's deck. You will also learn where to look for Trapper and what to do with the guide Nimble.
Go on board Skadovsk or Shevchenko?
You will receive In Search of a Guide mission immediately after completing the Dead Frequency quest. To gain information about Clear Sky, you can go to one of the two settlements located in shipwrecks.
Whether you decide to go to Skadovsk or Shevchenko has no impact on the plot. In both places you will meet Richter, who will give you further instructions. In both locations you will also find merchants, a bed, and a private chest.
Once you arrive on board your chosen ship, talk to Richter. He will recommend you to find Nimble - a guide who supposedly knows the location of Clear Sky. However, to find him, you must first meet the hunter Trapper.
Where to find Trapper?
Trapper is located in the wilderness, west of both ship-settlements. Once you arrive at the location, talk to the mutant hunter.
Trapper will quickly reveal the location of Nimble. After the conversation, you will be attacked by a large group of aggressive mutants. You can escape, leaving the hunter alone. Fighting here is completely optional and has no connection to the main storyline.
You can also stay and help Trapper in the fight. The fight is not easy, and during it, it's worth remembering a few things.
- The main enemy of the fight is a mutated deer. It has heavily armored skin, so try to aim for its weak spot - the head.
- The deer can ram Skif, knocking him off his feet and dealing significant damage.
- As long as the deer is alive, smaller mutants will keep coming. Try to focus your fire on that enemy.
- In addition to the "boss", dogs, rodents and wild boars will also join the fight. Be especially careful with the latter, as they can easily ram and knock you over.
- Watch out for Trapper - he may die if the fight lasts too long. The NPC also tends to walk right under the barrel of your gun.
If you survive the massive mutant attack alongside Trapper, the hunter will reward you with coupons.
Kill or spare Nimble?
Go to the snork cave on the western border of the map. Once you enter the cave system and reach the first fork, take the left path. Keep going along the corridor and ignore one of the exits from the caves.
After meeting Nimble, watch a cut-scene in which the guide blows up the mutant nest. During the quest, Skif will recognize Nimble as one of the attackers who took his Scanner in the prologue.
The game will present you with a choice:
- If you decide to kill Nimble, search his corpse. You will get all the information you need from the guide's PDA.
- Sparing the guide will allow you to extract a handful of information about Clear Sky, the swamp base, and Faust. Additionally, Nimble will reward you with coupons for sparing his life.
The decision about the fate of the guide does not have far-reaching consequences. For purely practical reasons, we recommend that you spare Nimble so you can get money for the quest.
Once you have obtained information about Clear Sky, the mission will end.
