1.1 patch for STALKER 2 leads to crashes and long compiling shaders time. Many players report issues
Today's new update for STALKER 2 causes problems for many players. Crashes during shaders compilation and loading save files are back.
The launch of STALKER 2 Heart of Chernobyl has drawn many comparisons to Cyberpunk 2077. Both games faced significant performance issues and numerous bugs, which developers addressed through frequent patches and updates. Unfortunately, much like the 1.0.1 update, which has itself created many problems and crashes than it resolved, the latest 1.1 patch has followed a similar pattern.

Crashes and stuck on shaders compilation after 1.1 update in STALKER 2
Shader compilation in STALKER 2 has been an issue for many players since launch. While this process should only take a long time during the game's initial startup, its duration heavily depends on your PC's hardware. For those using budget PCs, this can take even longer. However, a major update, such as today’s, can trigger this lengthy process once again.
Even more frustrating are the crashes that people have been reporting after installing the new update. Unfortunately, there’s little we can do except wait for the development team to address these issues in future patches.
Problems with loading save files after 1.1 update in STALKER 2
For other gamers, STALKER 2 1.1 patch has brought even worse issues. Some are unable to load their save files as the game crashes to the desktop. This issue was previously noted on Game Pass, Steam, and Xbox, and it now appears to be happening again.
While it's too early to definitively say whether the update itself is the cause of all issues, it's worth noting that post-launch patches often introduce new problems. We'll need to wait for more player feedback to get a clearer picture.
