STALKER 2: Deal with the Devil

The Deal with a Devil mission is part of the main storyline of STALKER 2 in the Garbage region. This mission is strongly connected to another quest, King of the Hill, which is associated with Varan, a bandit leader. How to find Varan?

You will receive the Deal with a Devil quest right after completing The Price Goes Up. The marker points you to an outpost south of Slag Heap, where Varan, a local gang leader, resides.

Enter the large brick building. Varan will be waiting there for you with his people. Talk to him.

The leader will reveal to you that he kidnapped Nestor and is ready to share some important information with you. However, this comes at a price. The next step you choose will determine what the rest of the mission will look like.

Bribe, kill, or carry out a task for Varan?

There are three possible options for completing the task:

1. You can pay Varan 20,000 coupons to tell you the information you need. We do not recommend this option. The huge amount of coupons will significantly reduce your account, and in addition you will have to fight Varan and his men later in the mission anyway.
2. The second option is to kill Varan. This is the fastest and simplest way to solve the Deal with a Devil mission. The fight with the leader is mandatory later in the mission anyway, so you might as well do it here and now.
3. The last option is to complete the King of the Hill quest given to you by Varan, which we have described in detail on this page of the guide. During this task, you can get a lot of interesting loot. However, it will take you quite a lot of time, and even so, you will not avoid the final confrontation with Varan and his men.

All three options lead to the same climax, which is a fight with Varan and his people. The decision also doesn't have much of an impact on the rest of the game's plot, so the final decision is mostly cosmetic.

Return to Varan

Once you decide on one of the options and return to Varan, the leader will give you the key to the prisoner's room, which is located in the basement of the power plant. However, when you move away a bit, all the bandits in the area will open fire on you.

Try to run away quickly, find a safe place, and fight back.

Once you have defeated all the bandits, return to Varan's "throne room" and jump into the hole in the center of the room. In one of the rooms you will find the corpse of Nestor and another man. Take the PDA from the corpse.

You may now safely leave the power plant. Once you do this, the Deal with a Devil mission will be completed.
