The Satsuma-Choshu Alliance mission in Act 3 of Rise of the Ronin (Kyoto region) will see you face a boss - Takamori Saigo. On this page of our guide, we show where the boss can be found in Kiyomizudera temple, what are his most often used attacks, and how to damage him successfully.
Location of the encounter
- One of the missions in Act 3 of the game (Kyoto region) which you'll need to complete is The Satsuma-Choshu Alliance.
- During the task, you'll infiltrate Kiyomizdura temple in Kyoto. This will involve a longer and sometimes linear crossing to the main building of the temple, where you'll find a banner. After getting inside, follow the path laid out by linear tunnels to reach a drop area from the screenshot. Simply jump down to start the battle.
How to weaken the boss?
- Saigo is equipped with a single melee weapon. His swings are most of the time rather sluggish. The exception is a spin attack and when it comes into play, it is better to jump away.
- Be careful, because normal melee combinations of the boss may end with a red attack. Failing to counter or avoid this attack may lead to your hero being impaled on spikes, receiving major damage.
- An alternative version of the red attack that concludes the combination may be a strong ground pound. This one is easier to avoid or parry, but failure means receiving a lot of damage.
- In the second phase of the encounter, a animal companion of the boss will enter the battle. Ignore it and let you companions hassle the animal.
- Continue damaging the boss. Depriving Saigo of his entire health bar will make him kneel, concluding the encounter. As a reward for winning this duel, Saigo will become your ally, unlocking Bond with this character.
