During The Sakurada Gate Incident story mission in Rise of the Ronin you will come across an important choice regarding Naosuke Ii. Here you will find out whether killing or leaving Naosuke alive can have serious consequences in the future.
The page contains spoilers about the final battle of the first chapter, as well as about how events might unfold after the confrontation with Naosuke and his assistant.
Duel with Naosuke
- Naosuke Ii is an important story character, closely related to the events in Japan presented in the game. He is a minister of the shogunate and also the lord of Hikone.
- Naosuke frequently appears in conversations and cut-scenes in chapter 1. At the end of the chapter, you will face Naosuke Ii. Akikatsu Manabe will join - this happens in The Sakurada Gate Incident mission. We described this confrontation in detail in the Bosses chapter.
Moment of important choice
- After winning the battle, you cannot determine the fate of Akikatsu Manabe - you will finally finish off the Blue Demon.
- An important choice is related to Naosuke - this moment is shown in the picture.
Consequences of the decision regarding Naosuke
You can:
- Kill Naosuke - he will be killed right away. This means he will not appear in the events after the battle.
- Save Naosuke - Manabe and Naosuke will escape from the battlefield. This choice will not significantly change the course of the entire story. In the next cut-scene, you will learn that despite surviving, Naosuke was removed from power and forced into the shadows, and that some time after the events of Sakurada, he was murdered by the Blade Twin.
In both variants, Naosuke will ultimately face death. The influence of the United States on the situation in Japan will decrease, and the role of Great Britain will increase. You will experience these changes after advancing to chapter 2.
