Jules Brunet is a boss from Rise of the Ronin, whom you must face for the second time in act 2. On this guide page, we described how to defeat Brunet in the French base next to Edo Castle, which the main character must visit in the Powder Smoke at the Castle main quest.
Location of the second fight with boss Jules Brunet
- Jules Brunet (Foreign Swordsman) is a boss that you could have encountered for the first time in the Yokohama region - we described this encounter on a separate page in the Bosses chapter.
- The second duel with Brunet takes place in Chapter 2 in the Edo region. In act 2, you have to start the Powder Smoke at the Castle main mission, in which you explore the French base adjacent to Edo Castle. You need to reach the main commander's tent. After using the grapple rope in the place shown in the image, you will land in the arena, triggering a duel with Brunet.
Boss tactics
- Attacking Brunet is made more difficult by the fact that the boss hides behind a shield. You can deal with this in 3 ways - wait for Jules' attacks to parry them, use martial skills capable of breaking through defense, or look for opportunities when the boss is busy fighting with team members to attack him from behind.
- Just like in the first fight, Jules Brunet can throw his shield and immediately obtain another one. You can parry the shield or dodge to the side.
- Beware of the boss's red attacks, including the jump, which can knock you to the ground. You will then receive additional damage before you manage to get up.
- In the second part of the duel, Brunet will start using longer melee weapons. His moveset changes and even regular attacks will reach you from a greater distance (e.g. strong hit to the ground in the example from the picture). Be ready to dodge or parry them.
- Brunet won't die. Instead, you will have a conversation with him to complete the current quest.
