Rise of the Ronin is not only about intense fights, but also an opportunity to meet many friendly characters and start romances. On this guide page you will find a list of all romantic options - we explain who the romance candidates are and what requirements need to be met to initiate a romance (gifts, choices, personal bond).
- Increasing the bond level with allies
- Dialogue options related to romances
- List of candidates for romances
Increasing the bond level with allies
- You will not start a romance during the first meeting with an NPC. You need to develop a relationship first.
- After the first conversation, a personal bond with a given NPC may be established. You can check it in the bond menu. Every bond starts at the first level and you can level them up.
You can improve personal relationships in several different ways:
- When giving gifts, meet the person at where they are staying (e.g. base of a specific faction) or in your longhouse. You can only give presents during a meeting. You can obtain them as loot or rewards from quests or buy them from merchants. Some gifts fit a specific character better or are "stronger". There are also universal gifts that everyone will love, such as the Knot of Destiny received as a reward for completing selected regions.
After giving a gift, you have to wait some time before the game allows you to give the same person another one.
- By completing quests related to a given character - these are primarily bond missions related to a specific person. These tasks have unique icons on the map and have a separate category in the journal.
- When taking allies on joint missions - select them on the mission preparation screen (if they are available for a given task - sometimes they can be locked if there is a conflict of interest, for example).
- By choosing appropriate decisions and dialogue options - a positive reaction from a given character will appear, for example, after agreeing with the worldview of the group they represent or using a special dialogue option.
- By performing activities related to a given character - this applies to selected NPCs. For example, you can level up your personal bond with Usugumo as you find stray cats that she will take care of.
Dialogue options related to romances
- In selected conversations with allies, dialogue options related to romance may appear - they are marked with an exclamation mark (example in the picture). Initially, you can only suggest to the other person that you are interested in a potential romance or establish a closer relationship.
- Conversations take place on various topics and it is worth choosing answers in accordance with the worldview of the person you are talking to, thanks to which your relationships will strengthen faster and you will receive personal bond points.
- A romantic relationship is only possible after developing a personal bond to the highest level - 4.
- During subsequent meetings, wait for the moment when the dialogue option with the flower icon appears - an example is shown in the attached image. It will replace the dialogue line with an exclamation mark.
- During the new meeting, you must confirm your feelings for the other person and the desire to commit to them - this is another dialogue option with a flower icon.
- A cut-scene will play summarizing the romance and the transition into a relationship called a veiled vow. This information will also appear on the character's card (red field).
List of candidates for romances
In Rise of the Ronin, you can have romances regardless of your character's gender. You will meet all the NPCs from the list below for the first time in the main storyline, although the option to meet them in the game world and improve relations may not appear immediately.
