Arriving in Edo

1. Edo is the second major region in Rise of the Ronin, and you'll first visit it at the end of Act 1 of the story. During Those Who Know Shoin story quest, a conversation with Ryoma will take place where you can confirm your readiness to travel to Edo.
2. The questline of the new region will begin almost immediately with the start of Those Who Gather at Edo story quest. During this mission, your task is to stay close to Ryoma and for now, you won't be able to explore the region on your own.

Free roam locked

1. Initially, only two small closed areas on the Edo map are available - Saihoji Temple and Yoshiwara Pleasure District.
2. When attempting to leave one of these areas, you'll receive a message about the shogunate's actions (screenshot above). As a result, you cannot embark onto free exploration of the entire region. The game will only allow you to move between the 2 mentioned locations.

How to unlock entire Edo?

1. To unlock the entire map of Edo for exploration, you need to complete Act 1 of the campaign. The last mission of Act 1 is The Sakurada Gate Incident. During this task, you'll participate in a large battle and will have to defeat 2 bosses.
2. After the bosses are taken care of, you'll watch several cut-scenes, receive a new story quest, Decisions, and have the entire region of Edo ready for exploration. From this moment on, you can freely explore the second region - take care of quests, complete activities, visit your longhouse and merchants, as well as collect secrets. You can now get 100% completion of the region.
