Genzui Kusaka is a boss found in the Take Back Hongakuji Temple main mission in Rise of the Ronin. This page of the guide explains how to get to the main hall of the temple as well as how to get through the boss fight. We have outlined the main attacks of Kusaki and presented the recommended combat tactics.

How to get to the main hall?

1. Reaching the location of the boss Genzui Kusaka may be problematic. The confrontation takes place during the mission Take Back Hongakuji Temple, which is part of a larger main mission Cultural Exchange.

1. You will receive a mission objective - reaching the main hall of the temple. The entrance to the temple is closed, so you have to look for an alternative way in. Climb the nearby observation tower and glide towards the temple (see the screenshot).

1. Once on the roof, find an opening that leads to a Veiled Edge Banner (the second opening on the roof leads nowhere). Save the game there and replenish your supplies.

1. Investigate the attic and keep crouching while doing it. In the location shown in the screenshot you can jump down to the main hall, where you'll find Genzui Kusaka, with whom you will start the fight.

How to fight the boss?

1. Right after jumping into the arena, check the hero's combat style and whether it matches the one of the boss, i.e. whether there are blue arrows next to Kusaka's health bar. If not, modify the style before you start attacking the boss.

1. For most of the fight, you should focus on stopping Kusaka's regular attacks. You can use countersparks for this or, for example, shoot a revolver at the right moments. Be careful because the boss can perform a series of up to 5 consecutive attacks.

1. The boss relies on charges from the very beginning of the fight. These may be regular ones as well as very dangerous red charges (the screenshot shows how they start). Stopping them may be difficult, so it is safer to dodge.
2. Rely on the support of allies that you could choose at the beginning of the mission. You can switch to another character to take a breath as well as attack the boss while he is fighting one of your companions.
3. The defeated Genzui Kusaka will not be murdered. Moreover, he can become an ally of the protagonist and appear as a companion in subsequent missions.
