During the Those Who Know Shoin main mission in Rise of the Ronin you have to face the boss Shinsaku Takasugi. On this page of the guide, we have compiled all the unique boss attacks as well as described the recommended tactics for this fight, found in The Chinatown Kiheitai mission.
Where is the boss?
- As part of the Those Who Know Shoin main mission, you will have to track Fumi Sugi. You'll have to save him from bandits in the Chinatown district. This interaction will mark the beginning of The Chinatown Kiheitai mission.
- The primary mission objective is to find Takasugi in Chinatown. The boss is in a large room, which you can access through the double doors shown in the screenshot.
How to fight Takasugi?
- Take advantage of the fact that the fight will not start until you approach the boss. Adjust the combat style for your weapon so that there are no red arrows next to the boss's health bar (indicating low effectiveness of the hero's attacks).
- Takasugi uses a long melee weapon with powerful swings. The swings are not very fast, which may make it easier for you to use countersparks. You can also shoot with a revolver to stop the attacks and charge the panic meter, which can lead to a critical hit.
- The boss can throw bombs. Move quickly so as not to end up in the strike zone.
- Takasugi can also scatter bombs in front of him. Then quickly jump back.
- Takasugi can fire single shots from a revolver. Revolver bullets fly very fast, so it's safer to perform several dodges in a row.
- The boss's helpers may appear in the arena at some point. If you have 2 companions in your team, they should deal with the helpers and so, you'll be able to focus solely on Takasugi. However, be careful, as regular enemies can also throw bombs.
- Don't let the boss remain idle for too long, because Takasugi might recover his health, which will make the fight unnecessarily longer.
