Last update: 15 February 2022

This page of the guide to Dying Light 2 describes a possible bug related to the Survivor Sense used to scan the area for loot - the bug may cause it to work incorrectly. You will learn how to try and deal with the Survivor Sense not working, or activating too late.

Note - This bug may not appear in your game. Some bugs and issues are specific to certain game versions and particular gaming platforms. Additionally, many of these bugs should be fixed in the coming patches, released after Dying Light 2 launches.

The Survivor Sense is a mode that allows you to scan the area, and by default, it should work without any problems, i.e. immediately after pressing the proper key (right analogue stick or R3 on the pad); it should also be unlimited (no need to wait for any cooldown).

Unfortunately, you may experience the Survivor Sense being unresponsive to pressing the activation button, or scanning the area with a significant delay . This may, consequently, make it difficult for you to find valuable loot, but also to, e.g. track enemies in your immediate vicinity.

Solution

  1. Make sure you have the latest version of the game installed to reduce the risk of this bug.
  2. Unfortunately, there is no one proven method to deal with this problem - it can return and "solve itself" on its own. This bug is more likely to occur when you are in urban areas with high development density. This is probably due to the game having trouble loading all the surroundings in time, and thus it temporarily blocks or delays the area scan. This bug should be less troublesome in open spaces with fewer buildings and enemies.
  3. If you absolutely want to scan a given area, try to get rid of all enemies, or pause the game for several seconds and try again. If the problem persists for a long time, we recommend restarting the game or at least returning to the main menu to resume the game and force it to reload all data.
