Earning money

Old World Money is used for all transactions in the game - Dying Light 2: Money - how to make and spend it? - World and game information - Dying Light 2 Guide

Old World Money is used for all transactions in the game. The easiest way of obtaining currency is finding it as loot. You have the best chances of finding money when searching ATMs and safes. Unfortunately you won't find huge amounts of money that way, but still, careful exploration is worth your time.

You can also be rewarded with Old World Money for finishing quests and other activities - Dying Light 2: Money - how to make and spend it? - World and game information - Dying Light 2 Guide

You can also be rewarded with Old World Money for finishing quests and other activities. In this case you can read about the possible rewards right after the new quest appears in your journal. Unfortunately only some quests reward you with money.

The best way of earning money is selling Valuables - Dying Light 2: Money - how to make and spend it? - World and game information - Dying Light 2 Guide

The best way of earning money is selling Valuables. These are various items obtained as loot or as rewards. They have no other uses but can be quite valuable - the rarer the item is, the more you'll earn by selling it. All collected valuables are stored in your protagonist's backpack.

Take your valuables to any trader - Dying Light 2: Money - how to make and spend it? - World and game information - Dying Light 2 Guide

Take your valuables to any trader. You don't have to sell your valuables separately. By holding down a specific button you can sell all of them at once (Triangle on the PlayStation, Y on the Xbox). On the bottom part of the screen you'll see their total value (example pictured).

We don't recommend selling other items, such as your weapons or Craftmaster Resources. They can come in handy later on, and even if you don't need them now you can always hide them in your stash at any hideout.

Spending Old World Money

Your funds are best spent at Craftmasters - Dying Light 2: Money - how to make and spend it? - World and game information - Dying Light 2 Guide

Your funds are best spent at Craftmasters. You can purchase unique items from them - especially new blueprints, which will let you craft new consumables, weapon mods or ammo, and upgrades for the tools your protagonist uses.

We suggest you to go on a shopping trip immediately after visiting the Bazaar for the first time, which should provide you with some useful blueprints to start off the game with.

Additional note - buying blueprints isn't the only way of getting them. You can also be rewarded with them by completing specific quests.

You can also spend Old World Currency at traders, but in this case you should be very picky about what you purchase - Dying Light 2: Money - how to make and spend it? - World and game information - Dying Light 2 Guide

You can also spend Old World Currency at traders, but in this case you should be very picky about what you purchase:

  1. Don't buy common items that can be found by exploring the world or crafted. These purchases would be unnecessary. You can make small exceptions to this rule, for example if you run out of medicine, but even then it's a good idea to search some larger locations to find the loot you need.
  2. Remember about the items' ranks. Unfortunately you can't buy the best things right away, as traders unlock them for you only once you reach higher ranks. For example, traders will only start offering you Rank 3 items once Aiden himself advances to the same rank. We recommend you wait a little until your rank is higher before you make some larger purchases. You can also limit yourself to purchasing only very high quality items and/or items with useful stat bonuses.
  3. Don't buy weapons often. You can find or get many great weapons by completing missions. In addition all weapons degrade overtime, so the money you spend on them may end up going to waste. This fortunately doesn't apply to armor, which doesn't degrade.
