The list of requirements to complete Dying Light 2 in 100%
In Dying Light 2, you will not find an official list of requirements to complete the game or any window that would allow you to check the progress of the game completion. However, you can still try to get 100% of the content offered by the game. Due to the large size of the world, non-linear gameplay, as well as a large number of optional activities and collectibles, it can take you up to several hundred hours.
Here is a list of things you can do as you play the game:
- Main quests - The main quests have to be completed in a specific order, and many of them have choices that may affect non-linearity and the course of the campaign. You can't see everything at once (more information in the next subpoint).
- Endings - The game has more than one ending. Unfortunately, you can't see them all within the same playthrough (more information in the next subpoint).
- Side quests - Most side quests have to be unlocked on your own initiative by finding their quest givers. Additionally, some quests can be unlocked only based on the previous story choices (more information in the next subpoint).
- Character development - If you want to develop Aiden in 100%, you need to unlock all available skills and develop Health and Endurance to the maximum. Additionally, you can try to advance to the highest rank - 9 (experience level).
- Blueprints - You can try to unlock all blueprints related to the crafting and pend supplies to upgrade each blueprint to the maximum (it is very time-consuming because you need many Infected Trophies).
- City Alignment - You can take over water towers and power plants (there are 7 of these facilities in total) to assign them together with the city districts to the Peacekeepers or Survivors factions.
- Windmills - You can find and take over new windmills by climbing and solving environmental puzzles. They unlock new safe zones and structures.
- Metro Stations - You can infiltrate stations and restore their electricity supply. This will allow you to unlock 100% of possible fast travel points.
- GRE Anomalies - You can visit areas with anomalies at night to fight elite monsters and obtain inhibitors.
- GRE Quarantine Buildings - These are big locations that you can infiltrate at night to find boxes with inhibitors and various valuable loot.
- Bandit camps - They are controlled by Renegades by default. In each of the camps, you can fight with the leader and his subordinates, collect valuable loot and finally take over the place and hand over it to your allies.
- Challenges - You can find combat and parkour challenges in which you encounter monsters and race.
- Smaller locations - You can find smaller places, for example, dark alleys or convoys. This may allow you to discover the next city districts in 100%.
- Secrets and collectibles - You can find in the game world and collect inhibitors, recordings, notes, and graffiti tags. Unfortunately, some collectibles can be missed (more information in the next subpoint).
- Platinum trophy/100% achievements - Earning all trophies or achievements is largely related to the activities listed above. Unlocking the "platinum" can be difficult because of trophies that require grinding and those that are possible to miss (more information in the next subpoint).
Discovering 100% of the game in one playthrough - is it possible?
Due to the game structure, you cannot discover 100% of Dying Light 2's content in a single campaign playthrough. Here are the main reasons for this:
- Quests in the game can be non-linear and related to important choices. The consequences of your decisions are not only cosmetic - they can change the course of the main quests, unlock new side quests or cancel side quests related to earlier story events. So you can miss some events because the story will play out differently.
- The game does not allow you to unlock all the endings within the same campaign playthrough. You can only watch one based on your previous choices, and if you want to see a different one, you'll have to play the main campaign again.
- You can also miss some of the game content because of fractions. You cannot help Peacekeepers and Survivors at the same time. In some quests and additional activities, you have to choose your allies. The same applies to the mechanics of the City Alignment - you always choose who you want to hand over the district to.
- Some collectibles can be missed . Mainly the secrets that can be found in locations visited only once during the game. You can also miss trophies requiring you to find 100% secrets from different categories.
To sum up, if you want to experience 100% of the game's content, you have to play Dying Light 2 at least twice, assuming that the next time you play, you will remember to make other choices.
