Endgame - general information
As a reminder, Dying Light 2 is divided into main quests, side quests and various additional activities. To finish the main story, you need to complete all the main quests. Everything else is optional.
The game allows you to continue playing after completing the entire main storyline. The main character will return to the Fish Eye, and you'll be able to tackle any activities you've missed before - side quests, optional activities, searching for collectibles, developing your character or just freely exploring both parts of the city. You don't have to try to "clear" all of the map markers before proceeding to the final part of the main storyline.
Level scaling - how does it work?
Unfortunately, when you finish the main storyline, the game will start to scale the challenge level - this applies to opponents and activities/quests. The game will adjust their level to Aiden's current rank - you will no longer overpower opponents by being at a higher rank and using high-level weapons. You may have more problems with completing quests and activities with the same rank, or even defeating regular opponents. You will have to, e.g. get better equipment.
Point of no return - is it in the game?
If you want to avoid the problems described in the previous point, consider taking care of the most difficult activities before finishing the story. This is relate to, e.g. side quests with a lot of fights, anomalies or quarantine buildings.
The so-called point of no return can be helpful here. It is activated before the beginning of the penultimate main quest - the game displays a warning on the screen (the picture above). You can then choose not to advance to the campaign's epilogue and instead do the other things first. There is no need to go to the finale right away.
Additional information about the Bazaar
A minor exception to the above rule is the old town Bazaar. As a result of completing the initial main missions in the Bazaar, there will be events that will temporarily block access to the NPCs from this location and that may cancel side quests related to this area. We suggest that you take care of the optional quests from the Bazaar as soon as the exclamation marks appear on the world map, indicating the starting point. This will ensure that you won't miss any content.
