Yellowbrow is a great monk with whom you will have a rather tricky fight. Between two phases, you will fight the Macaque Chief for the third time. After finishing this fight, you will battle the true form of the boss. In this guide, you will learn its attack patterns, how to defeat it, and what rewards you will receive after winning the duel.

Yellowbrow in a nutshell

1. Yellowbrow deals mostly thunder damage. This means that if it hits you enough times, it will apply an effect on you that will cause you to receive much greater damage. It's worth getting items that negate this status.
2. The boss often teleports to the side sectors of the arena. Thanks to this, it gains distance and can calmly shoot you with lightning. Pay attention to where it appears and quickly close the distance.
3. Strong, charged attacks will stun the boss, but only for a very short time. A better solution will be to focus on attacking with a quick combo.
4. Yellowbrow battle has two phases. In the first one, it is much larger, while in the second one, which activates after defeating the Macaque Chief, it is your size. That's when he acquires a special move, which causes his body to be covered in gold. He is then immune to attacks, so you have to charge your blow to the 3rd level of Focus.

Yellowbrow's attacks

1. Mace swing - Yellowbrow begins swinging his weapon from a distance, creating a wave of lightning in front of him. They move in a straight line, so you can escape by dodging forwards.
2. Vanish and Teleport - This isn't really an attack, but it's a move he uses very often. When the boss stands still, and after a moment moves his staff, he will disappear, and after a short time he will reappear on one of the sides of the arena.
3. Mace attacks - The opponent starts attacking several times at a very slow pace. Each attack has a large range, because each swing creates a bolt of lightning.
4. Ground slam - An attack that creates a thunderous explosion around the boss. Quickly move away from the boss, immobilize or stun him.

1. Swift strike - The enemy performs a sweeping blow from above their head. This attack has a large range, but is performed in a straight line. When you notice that the weapon quickly moves to above the boss's head, dodge to the side as soon as possible - it's a very fast attack.
2. Summoning lightning - After teleportation and after having his health points reduced to half, the boss will start creating lightning. Fortunately, the places where they will appear are signaled in advance. Avoid them, then go on the offensive.
3. Mace charging - Yellowbrow will stand still and hold his weapon in the air for a long moment. It will then strike the ground with full force and after a short delay create an explosion of lightning. Move away from him, and when the explosion starts to form, use the ability to turn yourself into stone. You can also immobilize the boss and interrupt his attack.

1. Horizontal attack combo - The opponent can start swinging their weapon repeatedly, creating more lightning bolts around it. Do not go on the offensive under any circumstances, as he is difficult to immobilize during this move. Try to perform perfect dodges to gain Focus.
2. Summoning projectiles- Yellowbrow can also pick up his weapon and swing it above his head to create a dozen or so projectiles that will start flying towards you. It will be best to retreat in this case, as he will start performing other attacks during when launching the projectiles, which become difficult to avoid.
3. Circular current wave - After some attacks, the boss may release a circular wave of electricity that widens with distance. You can jump over it or use the pillar's stance.
4. Covering the body with gold - In the second phase, after you defeat Macaque Chief, the boss will periodically cover his body with gold. During this phase, Yellowbrow is invulnerable. You must charge a heavy attacks using at least three Focus points.

How to fight Yellowbrow?

Yellowbrow has many different attacks, and it's hard to stun him. However, he is slow and all his attacks are well signaled. Use the Immobilize spell the moment you see the boss starting to charge up a powerful attack.

Under no circumstances should you be hit by a stomp, as this attack can deal colossal damage. Back off as soon as you see that the boss is preparing to use it. It is best to then charge your attack while slowly walking away from the boss. Attack only when he performs his move.

The boss attacks mainly with his weapon and lightning. It is important not to let the thunder status bar fill up, as this will cause you to take increased damage, even though the boss's attacks are slow. In critical situations, transform into any yaouguai to avoid losing all your health too quickly.

When you deplete the boss's entire health bar, he will absorb you into his gourd. Inside you will fight Macaque Chief once again. This time you will be helped by an NPC with a boar's head. The mini boss itself will gain additional new attacks, however their animations do not differ from the previous ones. Be careful, as many of his sword swings will create a ranged attack. Despite this, the Macaque Chief is very easy to stun. Use strong attacks and Immobilize.

Once you defeat him, you will return to Yellowbrow's arena as Macaque Chief. You'll gain some interesting AoE attacks. You will now have to wade through a large number of small monks. Proceed to make your way upwards. They do not pose too much of a threat. When you defeat them and reach the very top, you will fight Yellowbrow again, this time in his reduced form.

The boss will start the duel by gilding his skin. Unfortunately, your attacks will bounce off him, and he himself will gain a very large damage negation. To destroy this defensive technique, you must charge up a strike from any stance using three points of Focus. Then the boss will fall to the ground, and you will be able to deal damage to him normally.

In the fight, every so often, when you reduce his health level by about 33%, he will scream, and then you will be hit by an unavoidable attack, which will trigger a cut-scene.

Yellowbrow has no other new moves in this phase. The duel is very similar to the one from the first phase, so proceed with it as at the beginning of the fight. After defeating him, you will proceed to the fourth chapter of the game.
