Elder Jinchi is an optional boss you can face in the first chapter of Black Myth Wukong, and a more powerful version of the Wandering Wight. You will face him after ringing three bells - each bell is guarded by a different boss, those being Guangzhi, Guangmou and the Whiteclad Noble. After rining the third bell you'll be teleported to the alternate version of Guanyin Temple. On this page of the guide we've described how to defeat the Elder, listed his moves, the recommended strategy and the rewards for killing him.
Elder Jinchi in a nutshell
- Jinchie's attacks are slow, but powerful. You'll have plenty of time to charge your blows in-between his attacks.
- Most of the boss' moves are identical to the Wandering Wight's - the shockwave is delayed though, and the boss can now fluently chain different moves into combos.
- Smash Stance is the best choice for this fight, since the boss doesn't have many low attacks, while charging your Focus while moving will prove very useful.
- When the ghosts in the arena turn gold, run away from them - soon enough they'll blow up on their own or get killed by the boss.
- Halfway through the fight the boss will become invulnerable and will begin absorbing spirits to heal himself - run around the arena, killing the spirits closest to Jinchi to prevent him from regenerating .
Jinchi's attacks
- Arm swing - the boss leans down and swings his arms side to side. He uses this attack when he's nearby and can do it once or a few times in a row - dodge to the side or back.
- Stomp - The boss lifts his foot and stomps down. He uses this attack when he's nearby and can do it once or a few times in a row - dodge to the back (dodging to the side can throw you right into the hitbox).
- Jump - the boss mixes this attack into his combos - he jumps and tries to crush you. The animation is very short, so stay vigilant and be ready to dodge.
- Explosion - the boss slams a single fist down into the ground. Sprint away from him - he'll cause three gradually larger explosions around himself. After the third explosion, there will be a fourth one after a couple seconds - only then can you approach the boss again.
- Reinforcements - the boss backs away, shouting at the ghosts. They turn golden and charge towards you, exploding with a short delay when they get close. Move away from them until they're all gone - you can also bait the boss into killing them with his attacks.
- Clap charge - the boss uses this attack when he's far away - he crouches, runs towards you and claps with both hands. Dodge the small shockwave around his hands.
- Explosive charge - the boss uses this attack when he's far away - he runs towards you while wildly swinging his arms, then strikes the ground, causing a small explosion and then a second one a moment after. After dodging wait for the second explosion before approaching again.
- Shockwave - the boss raises his hand, gathering red energy. Then his hand flashes gold - dodge to the side to avoid the huge shockwave. Compared to the weaker boss' similar attack, this one is delayed.
- Headbutt - the boss uses this attack when you're close. He lifts his head slightly and slams it down - the animation is short, so stay vigilant and be ready to dodge.
- Regeneration - the boss uses this move once he's down to half health. He'll rise up and become invincible for about a minute. The ghosts in the arena start slowly walking towards him and will heal him if they get too close - run around the arena and dispose of the ghosts nearest to the boss. You can't lock the camera on them, but only one hit is enough to dispose of them.
How to fight with Elder Jinchi?
Elder Jinchi is a powered up version of the Wandering Wight you must have already defeated. Your strategy should be very similar, but be ready for some slightly changed and new attacks. The boss can also seamlessly chain his attacks together and perform longer combos.
Like his weaker version, the Elder's attacks are relatively slow. He also spends much of the fight doing nothing - this will let you charge your heavy strikes relatively safely as long as you're keeping away at a moderate distance. The boss is more resistant to being staggered now, so be careful and ready to dodge even after finishing a combo.
The Smash Stance is the best stance for this fight. Being able to move while charging and the faster charging speed will prove very helpful. The boss doesn't have many low attacks, so the Pillar Stance won't see much use.
Beware of the ghosts in the arena. They are harmless for most of the fight, but when the boss calls for help, they will turn golden and start charging at you, exploding a moment after. Stop attacking - focus on dodging and running away until they're all gone. Jinchi also absorbs the essence of the spirits before attacking with a shockwave - this attack is more powerful than in the previous fight and has a significant delay. Dodge to the side when his hand flashes gold.
Once the boss loses half his health, he becomes invulnerable for about a minute. Ghosts will start walking towards him, healing him when they get too close. Run around the arena and get rid of the ghosts closest to the boss - luckily, only one hit is enough to kill them.
