Although Black Myth Wukong can't exactly be called a soulslike, it has much in common with such games. One important question therefore is how difficult the game is and can it be made easier or harder. On this page of the guide we answer does Black Myth Wukong have selectable difficulty levels and how challenging it is.
Difficulty levels
Black Myth Wukong has no difficulty levels. From the beginning of the game right up to the end, the difficulty is always the same for every single player. The game's accessibility options also can't make the game any easier.
How hard is Black Myth Wukong?
Despite its similarities to soulslikes, Black Myth Wukong is not as challenging as most such games. In terms of the combat system it's more like Sekiro or Bloodborne than Dark Souls or Elden Ring - rather than offer many different playstyles, it instead focuses on a single playstyle with very minor changes, depending on how you allocate your skill points. The difficulty will therefore also depend on how much said playstyle suits you - that being a focus on dodging and charging up heavy attacks through flurries of light attacks.
There are several reasons as to why the game is easier than full-fledged soulslikes. You don't lose anything when you die - you don't have to worry about losing currency or experience. Exploration segments are very short, as the game instead focuses on boss fights, which there are a lot of. You have many powerful tools at your disposal, such as spells and transformations that deal high damage and make you invulnerable. As long as you remember to utilize everything the game offers you, you should be able to handle any challenge.
This doesn't mean, of course, that the game is a walk in the park. The difficulty cannot be lowered, bosses hit hard, the skill tree is massive and the perfect dodge frame window is very narrow. Understanding the intended playstyle could also take you a while. To make the game easier, remember to explore alternate paths, defeat optional bosses to earn valuable rewards, and forge new equipment to raise your stats.
