Black Myth Wukong is full of mini-bosses - enemies that are stronger than regular opponents but weaker and less complex than full-fledged bosses. Your opponents usually drop a soul that allows you to transform - temporarily take on the form of such a boss. On this guide page, we have listed all the mini-bosses you will encounter in the first chapter of the game, described their attacks and the rewards received for the fight.
Bullguard
- Location: This enemy is impossible to miss - you will encounter him in the Forest of Wolves, after the Front Hills altar.
- Rewards: 482 experience points, 387 Will, Stone Spirit, and the Immobilize spell.
- Comment: Bullguard is a very simple, basic boss whose moveset consists solely of slow, vertical axe swings. You can avoid them by dodging to the side - his combinations consist of two or three attacks. Halfway through the fight, you will be hit with a scripted, unavoidable grab, which will allow you to learn the Immobilize spell. Continue the fight - having access to the spell, you should be able to defeat the opponent very quickly.
Wandering Wight
- Location: You will encounter this enemy in the Forest of Wolves, by turning right after passing the Outside the Forest altar.
- Rewards: 1049 experience points, 699 Will, 3x Yarn, (Curio) Opal Necklace, Soul of a Stray Ghost.
- Comment: The Wandering Wight may cause you some problems. His stomp attack has an extended hitbox, which will hit you even after dodging to the side (you can only reliably avoid the stomp by dodging backwards). His arm swings can be dodged in any direction. When the boss starts sparkling, he intends to fire a shock wave in front of him - dodge to the side. He can also punch the ground, creating an explosion around himself - a single or several expanding explosions (both can be avoided by moving away from the boss). If you move away from the Wandering Wight, the boss will shorten the distance with one of three charges - ending with a powerful clap, a strike to the ground and an explosion, or a jump kick followed by a landing attack. You can also make the enemy lose balance and knock him down by delivering several strong blows in a row.
Guangzhi
- Location: You will encounter this enemy in the Forest of Wolves, turn left after crossing the wooden bridge, after passing by the Outside the Forest altar.
- Rewards: 700 experience points, 516 Will, Stone Spirit, Spell (Red Tides).
- Comment: The boss's basic combos consist of two or three attacks with the flaming glaive. He can also jump around on his glaive while jamming it into the ground, up to three times at once. Watch out for the glaive toss, which is very quick and its animation is almost instant. When the boss freezes in place, he's about to charge in one of two directions. You should also watch out for a jumping charge and a spin charge. The boss can be easily knocked off balance with strong attacks, which make him vulnerable to subsequent blows.
Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang
- Location: You will encounter this giant frog in the lake in the Bamboo Grove, after the Snake Trail altar.
- Rewards: 482 experience points, 389 Will, 2x Yarn, Tadpole, Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang Spirit.
- Comment: Before fighting the giant frog, take care of the smaller frogs hiding in the bushes. As befits a frog, the boss's basic moves are swinging its arms and jumping. If you approach it from behind, the boss will try to kick you with its hind legs. When the boss lies down on the surface of the water, it will soon start to swing its tongue - this is a low attack, which you can avoid, move away from, jump over, or stand on your staff. If you move away from the enemy, it will make a very quick leap in your direction, trying to hit you with its swollen belly.
Guangmou
- Location: You will encounter this boss deep in the Bamboo Grove, after the Snake Trail altar.
- Rewards: 700 experience points, 528 Will, Stone Spirit, Blood of the Iron Bull, Guangmou Spirit.
- Comment: Guangmou has a fairly simple moveset, relying mostly on ranged attacks - he can fire a few homing projectiles or a few ones at a short distance in front of himself. If you move away from him, he may summon a tornado directly beneath you. He can also spit poison straight. Be careful when the poisoner starts to spin - he can create a small wind explosion around himself. Avoid it by moving away. The boss often teleports, but you should be able to deal with him quickly by playing aggressively.
