Stone Monkey is actually the first phase of the final boss in Black Myth Wukong, who you will encounter in the last arena of Chapter 6. If you don't know how to defeat it, we invite you to read our guide, where you will find the summary of the fight as well as a comprehensive list of the boss's moves and attacks.
Stone Monkey in a nutshell
- It is advised to go into this fight having equipped all pieces of armor and weapons that you received after defeating the four main bosses of Chapter 6: Feng-Tail General, Cloudtreading Deer, Gold Armored Rhino and Emerald-Armed Mantis. Both their stats and unique effects will make the fight much easier.
- The boss can harden its body. When you notice this defensive move, do not attack the boss, otherwise it will perform a grab which deals a lot of damage.
- The fight with the Stone Monkey has two phases, so it is worth saving larger amounts of resources like mana or using relics for the second stage.
- Turning into stone at the perfect moment can result in a much longer stun than using an immobilizing spell. On top of that, it's very easy to perform because many of the boss's attacks are well signaled.
- Plantain Fan will allow you to constantly stun the enemy and thus it's going to be an essential item in this fight. As a rule of thumb, it'll be more useful in the second phase, as this is when the Stone Monkey is the most troublesome.
Stone Monkey's attacks
- Jump and two-handed strike - it's the initiating attack. The boss will slowly run up to you and then jump and attack with both hands. Perform a dodge backwards and start attacking.
- Fury - the Stone Monkey goes berserk and then attacks areas around it several times using both hands. This attack has such a short range and is so imprecise that it's not that demanding to dodge it. Just back off and wait until it's over. The final attack will create a breach in the ground and an explosion around the boss. After a while, another explosion will also be created, further into the arena. Therefore, during the final attack, get close to the boss and you will avoid danger.
- Four swings - it's a slow and well-signaled attack. The boss will start attacking with his hands alternately. This attack has a small range. Either retreat or approach the boss from behind and start attacking
- Hardening and grabbing - when you hear the characteristic sound of hardening and notice that the boss is not moving anymore, do not attack him under any circumstances. Your attack will only bounce back and not inflict any damage, and to make matters worse, the Stone Monkey will perform a grab, which is not so easy to avoid.
- Seismic strikes - when the boss's hands start to glow red, after a while he will strike the ground several times, creating discharges in the ground. The first three attacks are well signaled. You just need to dodge them at the right moment. The fourth and final strike will be delayed. Watch for small discharges around the boss. After the third time, jump up to avoid danger.
- Yellow energy wave - after defeating this boss, you will begin the second phase of the fight. The Stone Monkey always starts it with a discharge of yellow energy in the shape of a circle. First, it expands at a rapid pace. Dodge over it as soon as you see it starts moving. However, keep watching it, because it will return in a moment, inflicting damage once again.
- Ice blast - this is the same attack as in the first phase, where the boss starts punching everything around it. The final hit causes ice to appear on the map. Escape from this area, otherwise you will receive significant damage.
- Clones - the boss can also summon a clone of itself that will assist it in battle for a period of time. The clone also has its own separate health bar. This is a perfect opportunity to use the yaoguai transformation, as you won't risk losing your health. You do not have to defeat the second monkey, as it will disappear on its own after some time.
How to fight the Stone Monkey?
First things first: if you have equipped the full set of armor and the weapon that you received after defeating the four main bosses in Chapter 6, your strong attacks will be enhanced and will also recharge faster. It is recommended to fight this boss with this set equipped.
For those attacks of the boss that have a short range and pose no threat, it's worth charging up your strong attacks. The resulting injuries, if you have unlocked the fourth level of focus, will be lethal.
The whole boss fight essentially involves learning when you can approach and attack it and when you shouldn't do that and charge your attacks instead. Keeping your distance is key to victory, but the boss's final attacks, which cause various explosions, are best dodged when near the Stone Monkey. The Pillar Stance can also be helpful, which, if used well, will allow you to avoid danger.
Rewards
You won't receive anything for defeating the Stone Monkey, except for unlocking access to the fight with the final boss.
