Changing stances, spells, dodges, jumps, deflecting projectiles... and these are not all the techniques that can be used in combat in this game. It is worth learning all of them in order to unleash the full combat potential of Black Myth Wukong. On this page of the guide we compile all the combat techniques that will make the combat much easier to understand.
- Fast and strong attacks
- Mysticism and transformations
- Deflecting projectiles
- Dodges, blocking, counters and parrying
- Changing stances
Fast and strong attacks
- Quick attacks are the most basic actions in Wukong's moveset. They inflict minor damage, however, they charge the Focus bar with each successful hit. They also allow you to use combinations of different Staff Stances. When you perform a quick attack, and then use a strong attack by spending a focus point, you will perform a combination.
- Powerful, charged attacks use focus points to amplify their damage. To get these points, you need to perform successful quick attacks and perfect dodges. The more focus points you use, the better the attack will be. This attack can be performed even at zero focus level, however, the attack will be very weak. The main advantage of this combat technique is the fact that it has a high chance of stunning the enemy.
Mysticism and transformations
- Mysticism enables you to use powerful spells that will be very helpful in combat, especially against bosses. However, they have a downside, namely a long cooldown, so it is worth considering when to use them.
- Immobilize is the starting spell you get during the boss fight with the Bullguard. It enables you to stop all of your opponent's actions for a short moment. Moreover, in this state, the enemy receives increased damage.
- Transformation enables you to transform into certain bosses. For example, in the initial stage, you will have the opportunity to transform into Guangzhi, dealing fire damage. This effect lasts for quite some time, but any damage you take significantly reduces your remaining transformation time. Moreover, you do not lose health in this form.
Deflecting projectiles
- Wukong can deflect enemy projectiles while standing still. This technique is mainly useful against enemies fighting at range. As you continue to improve this ability, you can use this technique while moving, and even increase concentration with each successful deflection.
Dodges, blocking, counters and parrying
- Combat in Black Myth Wukong relies mainly on dodges. There are no basic actions in the game that enable you to block, counter, or parry an opponent's attack. Despite this, in the skill tree there are certain imitations of these three unavailable techniques (these are, in order - Vengeful Mirage, Deadly Dance and Immobilize with the Evanescence ability).
- Dodging at the perfect moment will stop time for a moment and increase your concentration level. However, this tool is not used to inflict damage on opponents. And at least not always. It often happens that the enemy will continue to attack, even if you perform a perfect dodge. Consider this mechanic as a tool to recharge your concentration and get out of trouble. Only at a later stage can you unlock a counter-attack after a successful perfect dodge.
Changing stances
- There are three staff stances in the game: Smash Stance, Pillar Stance, and Thrust Stance. Each of them offers a different fighting style.
- Mastering all three during combat can make fighting difficult bosses much easier.
- The Smash Stance is the most versatile and takes an offensive approach to combat. It enables you to, among other things, use fast, powerful attacks, which additionally block part of the damage.
- The Pillar Stance is a combination of offense and defense. It enables Wukong to step onto his staff while avoiding low attacks. Longer charging makes the staff longer and increases the range and damage of the attack.
- The Thrust Stance is for those who enjoy a defensive approach to combat. Its power lies in counters and dodges. If you are good at avoiding enemy attacks, this stance may prove to be ideal for you.
