Violet Spider is a pretty big boss. As the name suggests, you will be fighting against a spider. It specializes in restricting your movements and poisoning you. On this page of the Black Myth Wukong guide, you will learn the best way to approach this fight and about enemy attacks as well as the rewards you will receive for victory. You will encounter Violet Spider in the Gathering Cave in chapter 4.
Violet Spider in a nutshell
- Violet Spider has a large number of attacks, both at short and long range. Most of them involve fire projectiles, which slow down and poison your character, taking away health over time.
- When the spider's leg starts to glow green, this means the attack may poison you.
- The boss can blind you and create a spiderweb across the arena. There is only one way not to get caught in this attack. Turn the camera and don't look at the boss when you notice that her body starts to glow.
- Even though Zhu Bajie is in the arena wrapped in a cocoon, he cannot be released to aid you in battle. However, he can give you hints during the fight.
Attacks of the Violet Spider
- Area shot - Violet Spider fires a large number of web projectiles from its abdomen. After hitting the ground, a cobweb will remain there for a longer while. Entering it will slow your character down significantly.
- Abdomen attack - the boss will turn around and attack with his large abdomen. Retreat when you notice that Violet Spider starts changing her position.
- A series of three attacks - this is basically the same attack as the one performed by the Second Sister. The first two attacks are quick, while the third one (from above) is slightly delayed.
- Spitting venom - the opponent can spit out poisonous goo onto the arena. Standing in it will lead to accumulating poison statuses.
- Powerful strike - the enemy will rise up and attack from above her head with its two front legs.
- Fall and hit - the boss can fall to the ground while attacking with his antennae at a short distance. After falling, the spider will raise its two front legs and make a quick slash.
- A series of projectiles - when you are distanced from the boss, he may start to fire projectiles made of spider web one after another. There are a lot of them and when they hit you, they will slow you down significantly and restrict your movements. The best solution will be running to either side, left or right.
- Poisonous spray - Violet Spider can raise her body and begin spraying poison in a short distance. This attack has a greater range and area of effect than the one where the spider quickly spits poison in front of herself. Poison stains remain on the ground for a longer moment.
- Charge - the boss will start ramming everything in its path. When you notice that many of the spider's legs are moving at a considerable speed and the boss starts rushing towards you, get out of her way as fast as possible.
- Blinding flash - the boss's most dangerous attack, performed when Violet Spider's health drops below half. If it hits you, it will transport you to the center of the arena, creating a web there, where your movement range will be limited. To avoid this blow, turn the camera and don't look at Violet Spider as soon as you notice that the boss starts to glow. When he stops yelling, the effect should stop working. Then, you can look at the boss again.
How to fight Violet Spider?
An important rule is to watch out for the boss's attacks when you notice that her front legs are glowing green. This means that if she hits you with them, she will apply some amount of poison status to you. When the bar fills up completely, you will start receiving damage over time.
It is also important to maintain a close distance when fighting this boss. Otherwise, the boss will constantly bombard you from a distance with a web that restricts movement.
After the boss's attack, use the skill Pluck of Many and then stun her to deal significant damage. The opponent is vulnerable to fire, so transforming into a yaoguai, which can deal damage related to this element, will be an excellent choice.
If you don't have time to turn the camera before the boss's blinding attack, focus on defending yourself, not attacking the enemy. The attack lasts several seconds and severely limits your movements, but it is better to focus on survival rather than fighting, because your stamina bar will decrease very quickly.
After defeating Violet Spider, quickly escape from the cave, as after a moment thousands of smaller spiders will appear, which will want to kill you. After a longer escape, a cutscene will play. Once it ends, you will be able to safely leave this location.
