Shadows Crossing is a main quest in Dragon Age Veilguard, which concludes the second chapter of the game. This is a short quest consisting of a bit of exploration and a moral choice. On this page of the guide we have described how to explore the D'Meta's Crossing settlement and what to do with Mayor Julius.

How to get through D'Meta's Crossing?

You will begin the quest at the Veil Jumpers camp. You can explore the area and when you're ready, go to the boat at the docks to head to the D'Meta's Crossing settlement.

The path through the village is linear and you will not encounter any enemies here. Go deeper into the village, talking to a few settlers along the way. You can also get rid of the plague by destroying its large, red bubbles.

At the end of the path you will encounter a huge plague barrier. Destroy the large bubble and go inside. After the cut-scene, destroy another blockade and go to the river bank where you will meet the imprisoned Mayor Julius.

Mayor Julius - release or leave?

During your conversation with the mayor, you will learn that he was responsible for the destruction of the village. He claims that the ancient elven gods you are tasked with stopping have influenced his mind. You need to decide what to do with the mayor. You can:

  1. Free the mayor - the mayor will survive, warning you of the temptations of the elven gods,
  2. Leave the mayor - you will leave the plague-bound mayor to certain death,
  3. Sentence the mayor to penance - this option will only appear if you have chosen the Grey Wardens as your backstory. You will release the mayor, but force him to join the Grey Wardens, where he can atone for his actions.

The consequences of the decision will become apparent much later. The page will be updated as new information becomes available.

Briefing at the camp

Immediately after making your decision, you will return to the Veil Jumpers camp. Go to the council table in the center of the camp and watch a cut-scene during which you will meet the witch Morrigan known from the previous games of the series. This meeting will complete the quest.
