Active party members limit
- During the game you can command a party of 3 people. One of the party members must always be Rook - this is your protagonist created at the beginning of the game and the only character you can fully control while exploring and fighting.
- You can take a maximum of 2 companions to your active party from among those already unlocked. Beacons from the game world allow you to quickly modify the active party (as shown in the picture). You can also determine its composition before heading to a region or on a quest. In some quests the presence of a companion may be forced.
- You cannot exercise direct control over companions. However, there is an option to give them commands from the action wheel. For instance, you can order them to activate a specific skill.
- Inactive companions reside in the Lighthouse, which is a safe hub in the game. During this time they don't actively participate in combat, exploration, or encounters with other NPCs.
For more information on traveling with a party, you can visit the How to give commands to companions? and Can you control companions? pages.
Companions relationships and leveling up
- Relationships with companions are affected by your choices and dialogue options during conversations. Observe the reactions of your party members (example in the image) and, if necessary, load an older save to repeat a conversation or scene. It is also worth traveling with characters who have a similar worldview - there is a greater chance that they will all agree with your decisions.
- Each party member has their own storyline - it's worth completing companions' quests to get to know them better and strengthen your bonds with them. Good relationships with companions can also lead to friendships and romances - the latter of which we discuss in more detail on a separate Romances page.
- Party members can level up, but their progression occurs independently of Rook's. Each new level is an opportunity to distribute 2 development points - you can spend them on passive abilities or upgrades to selected active skills.
- Detailed advice on romancing companions is available on a separate page in our guide. There you will also find information about whether you can romance multiple characters at the same time.
