Fire and Ice is a main quest in Dragon Age Veilguard, which you will get to in chapter 9 of the game. This is a quest consisting entirely of a boss fight. On this page of the guide we have described how to defeat blighted Ghilan'nain dragons - Sertooth Vyrantus and Corius and Icetalon.
How to defeat a blighted dragon?
You will begin the quest in the Grey Wardens' stronghold. Speak to Guardian Rhodri at the gate to begin the fight. You will face the same dragon you fought in the On Blighted Wings quest.
The enemy has an identical moveset as in the previous quest. Most of his attacks cannot be blocked so you have to avoid them. The only exception are slightly homing projectiles, which you can parry. The fire dragon launches one powerful projectile, while the ice dragon fires three weaker ones in quick succession. When the dragon is engulfed in a red glow, prepare to dodge.
The dragon's weak points change their position throughout the fight, sometimes disappearing completely. They take the form of a purple glow and surround the beast's head or its paws. Focus on attacking and shelling these weak points. Remember that you can order your companions to use their skills precisely on enemy weak points. If you fill an opponent's stagger meter, the dragon will fall over and expose its greatest weak point - its belly. Keep hitting it then as much as you can. Empty the dragon's health bar to begin the second phase of the fight.
How to defeat two blighted dragons?
In the second phase of the fight, you will face both blighted dragons at once. The most important thing in this fight is to keep the camera on both enemies and never take your eyes off them - the dragons attack simultaneously and their attacks pass through each other. So avoid situations where you lose sight of one dragon or one dragon blocks the other from view.
Focus on prioritizing one of the dragons, but keep in mind that sometimes they will fly off into the air. When that happens, attack the dragon on the ground until the other one attacks from above and falls down again. When both dragons are on the ground, hit one of them whenever you can. After dealing enough damage to the dragons, Shadow Dragons or Antivan Crows will suddenly come to your aid, bringing a ballista with them.
For the rest of the fight, a new skill involving the ballista will be available in the skills menu. It is located at the very top of the menu. Use it when the target dragon is standing still. A well-aimed shot will deal high damage and instantly stagger the beast, exposing a weak spot on its belly. Use the ballista whenever you can - you can also see the cooldown for this ability in the lower right corner of the screen.
Continue fighting while keeping an eye on both dragons, dodging attacks, parrying projectiles and firing the ballista whenever possible. Continue to prioritize one dragon, but don't be afraid to fight the other one as well if a good opportunity arises or if the first dragon is up in the air. Once you take down one of the dragons, the fight will become much easier. Defeating both dragons will complete the quest.
