Dragon Age Veilguard: Bellara quests Dragon Age Veilguard guide, walkthrough

Bellara is a specialist in ancient elven artifacts. On this page, we will show you how to pass the quests related to her character thread.

Last update: 15 November 2024

Aligned with the Veil Jumpers faction, Bellara joins Rook's party early on in the game. The elven technology specialist has her own storyline revolving around her difficult and tragic past. On this page of the guide you will find a detailed walkthrough of the companion's quests that will help you discover Bellara's secrets.

Echoes of the Past

You can start the elf's first quest after the first few chapters. When visiting the Lighthouse, pay attention to the exclamation marks that appear next to character portraits on the map. When one appears next to Bellara, talk to her to start the quest Echoes of the Past.

If you go too far with the the main storyline, some companions' quests may become unavailable later!

You can complete Bellara's quest while doing Harding's quest. Both will take you back to Arlathan Forest near the Veil Jumpers camp. Go to the location pointed by the quest marker.

After a short cut-scene and briefing, follow the researcher to a laboratory full of ancient artifacts.

Conversations with Bellara during quests are a good opportunity to establish a romantic relationship with her. Look out for romantic options marked with a heart.

Your first task will be to find two power crystals. The first one is located in a nook next to Bellara. The second one is levitating on the opposite side of the room, next to the cheese display case. Take both crystals to the sockets next to the elf.

A bit further on, in the courtyard, you will have to find crystals again.

  1. The first one is located one floor up, directly above Bellara. You will find the ladder on the left side.
  1. The second one is behind the crates next to the door.
  1. The third can be found on a pile of collapsed stones in the corner of the room.

To find the last two crystals in the third room you must:

  1. Throw the wooden beam through the gap, then climb up the ladder. The crystal will be on the right side.
  1. Take the power crystal and place it in the slot next to the railing above the chasm. Then cross the bridge and collect the second crystal.

Place both crystals in the appropriate slots next to Bellara. After a rather long cut-scene, the first mission of the heroine's storyline will end.

The Demon's Bargain

Bellara's next quest will appear a few chapters later. The Demon's Bargain quest will take you once again to Arlathan Forest. Select the appropriate location on the world map.

While exploring the ancient ruins you will encounter three aggressive constructs. Be careful during the fight - the arena is small so you can easily get stuck in a dead end. Mechanical warriors are vulnerable to lightning damage.

In the nearby, densely overgrown courtyard, a mini-boss fight awaits you:

  1. The opponent is vulnerable to frost damage;
  2. He is very fast and quite jumpy. Beware of quick charges and jumping attacks;
  3. Use obstacles to hide from projectiles;
  4. When the boss charges up his attack in the form of circular, flaming waves, try to get away from him or find shelter on high ground.

Continue through the ruins. Make your way through by activating the beacons using the crystals found in the area.

In the final room, a rather long dialogue scene will take place involving Cyrian and the demonic Anaris. Right after it, you'll have to fight a group of enemies. Use Bellary's skill (selected from the skill radial menu) to activate two artifacts placed on the sides of the room.

A moment later, the boss will join the fight:

  1. Ignore the finger demon. Focus on the much faster minor enemies first.
  2. Opponents are vulnerable to ice damage.
  3. Use the pillars at the corners of the arena to avoid incoming attacks. However, be careful not to allow yourself to be cornered.

After defeating the boss, you will be able to freely explore the area. Once you have sorted out all your matters, go to Bellara.

After a cut-scene with your rescued friends, the mission will end.

Through the Shadows

In this quest you must stop Anaris. Walk through the elven ruins until you come across a gate that requires you to power it with two lasers. Aim the laser emitter on the lower floor to the left and power up the smaller door. It leads to the upper floor. On the upper floor, aim the emitter found there at one of the crystals above the gate, then jump down and aim the lower emitter at the other crystal to open the gate.

In the next large room, you and Bellara will have to delay Anaris' ritual. Several waves of enemies await you - you will have to destroy the amplifiers that appear in the arena. The arena is large and you have plenty of room to maneuver, so run away from enemies until you destroy all the amplifiers. The stairs leading to the upper floors can be found at the northern wall of the room. Once you have cleared out the amplifiers and enemies, activate the device near the blocked door to start the next wave. In total, you have to defeat three waves of enemies.

The path leading further is entirely linear. You can throw the enemies you encounter into the abyss. Eventually, you will reach a room with five laser emitters - you must power all five crystals above the door with them. Start by going up the stairs and reaching the emitter at the back of the room, then aim it at the crystal in front of you.

Then take the power crystal next to the chest and use it to power one of the emitters on the lowest floor. Remember to turn it the other way, towards the crystal at the back of the room. This will create a bridge. Go up the stairs again and climb the ladder to the top floor. Thanks to the bridge you can now use both emitters on this floor. There are stairs at the eastern emitter - they will lead you to the fourth emitter. Once they're all set, go back down to the ground floor and reverse the last emitter - let it power the door instead of the bridge. This way you will open the gate.

In the next room you will fight Anaris. He is surrounded by a shield that you cannot destroy normally. Get rid of all the amplifiers hanging on the backs of the columns to destroy the barrier. You can now hurt Anaris - he's not a very dangerous enemy, just watch out for his area magic, which he likes to shoot straight ahead (red circles on the ground). When he returns to the center of the arena and shields himself again, destroy all the amplifiers once more. Defeating Anaris will complete the quest.

Forest of Spirits

The next task is very simple. You must help Bellara honor her brother's memory. Follow the linear path and command her to light any bonfires you encounter. Along the way, you'll need to unlock the path further by taking the crystal from the bottom of the stairs and inserting it into the device at the top of the stairs. Once three bonfires have been lit, the quest will end.

Keep or release the archive?

Some time later, Bellara will want to talk to you at the Lighthouse. You must help her decide whether she should release the archive to prevent anyone from using the knowledge it contains for evil or keep it for the elves.

  1. Keeping the archive makes Bellara better at debuffing enemies - she will gain abilities and legendary armor that allow her to debuff nearby enemies with her healing ability and add area damage to her debuff abilities.
  2. Releasing the archive makes Bellara more offensive - she gains skills and legendary armor that increase her electric damage and upgrade her basic attacks.

Making this decision will end Bellara's storyline. The companion will receive the Hero of the Veilguard status - obtaining it will make her better at the task you can assign her to during the penultimate story quest.
