Dragon Age Veilguard: Davrin quests Dragon Age Veilguard guide, walkthrough

Davrin is a Grey Ranger in charge of raising griffins, who joins a team to fight against freed elven deities. On this page you will find detailed clues related to the plot of this hero.

Last update: 15 November 2024

Davrin joins your party shortly after the dragon attack on Treviso and Minrathos. The hero is connected with the plot of the kidnapped Griffons and the further fate of the Grey Wardens. On this page of the guide you will find a detailed walkthrough of all of Davrin's quests, thanks to which you will get to know his story better.

How to Train a Griffon

You'll receive Davrin's first quest shortly after meeting the Warden, after he and Assan move into the Lighthouse. While at the base, pay attention to the exclamation point next to the hero icon on the map. As soon as it appears, talk to Davrin to receive the quest.

If you go too far with the the main storyline, some companions' quests may become unavailable later!

The quest will send you back to Arlathan Forest. Follow the quest marker to the meeting point with the Warden and griffon near the old aqueduct.

Travel along the road listening to dialogues between the characters. Once you reach the location marked by the quest marker, your task will be to search three locations for truffles. The appropriate bushes are right next to each other - just approach the red bushes next to the trees and press the action button.

Continue your journey along the forest trail. Once you reach the destination marked by the quest marker, another conversation with Davrin awaits you. During it, you'll have the opportunity to choose a flirty response marked with a heart. Use it if you are planning to romance the Grey Warden. After the conversation, the quest will end.

The Cauldron

While the Cauldron quest is part of the main storyline, it is also heavily tied to Davrin's personal storyline and must be completed before you can continue with the Warden's story. We have therefore described it on a separate page of the guide.

A Friend in Need

A short quest in which you must help Eldrin, Davrin's old friend. Walk through the forest and collect the required ingredients - the game will mark them. Hit the tree to collect a branch, a little further in the field collect berries from three bushes, and get three roots from the stone ruins.

Place all the ingredients on the large stone slab nearby and stand next to Davrin to sound the horn. Watch as Assan feeds the exhausted Halla. Return to Eldrin and talk to him to complete the quest.

The Profane and the Lost

The final quest in Davrin's storyline, during which you will face Isseya. Go through the cave towards the elevator and move all the way down. Here you will encounter a corrupted Warden that you must eliminate. The enemy is alone, so he shouldn't pose much of a problem, but his heavy armor can be irritating - use charged attacks.

You will find yourself in a tainted replica of Weisshaupt. Follow the linear path and defeat the Darkspawn you encounter along the way, especially watching out for exploding enemies - shoot the cysts attached to them to detonate them. In the nearby arena you will find a ballista that you can use to easily get rid of entire groups of enemies.

In the next room you will encounter the corrupted First Warden - Davrin will end his suffering. If you convinced him to work with you during The Siege of Weisshaupt quest, the First Warden will tell you about Isseya's weakness - her old griffon's feather. Before you go any further, you can find a feather - it's on a brown table in the same room as the First Warden. Continue down the dungeon, fighting Darkspawn along the way.

You'll eventually reach Isseya's hideout (though first you'll need to destroy all the plague cysts marked with mission markers). Here you will fight Isseya - you must first destroy all of the plague cysts to make her vulnerable to damage. Look at the veins connecting Isseya to the cysts, they will show you where to go. You also have to destroy the cysts around the opponent - they look more like large veins, but they can be destroyed.

Isseya herself can be taken down very quickly - she has low health and is easy to stun, so once she's exposed, attack her with everything you've got. Once the boss runs away, run after her and destroy the cysts that make her invulnerable again. At the end of the fight, Isseya will grab Assan and you will engage in conversation. If you have her griffon's feather, you can use it here and Isseya will surrender and die. If you don't have it or don't use it, Davrin and Assan will kill Isseya together in a cut-scene.

The quest ends with one final decision - you must choose whether the freed griffons should be returned to the Grey Wardens or protect Arlathan Forest.

  1. Sending the griffons to the Grey Wardens will make Davrin better in combat - he'll gain an ability and legendary armor that reduce his ability cooldowns, temporarily make you invulnerable, and set enemies on fire.
  2. Allowing the griffons to remain in Arlathan Forest will make Davrin better at taking down enemies - he will gain a skill and legendary armor that increase the damage of his abilities, grant you Precision, and increase the stagger he deals to enemies via detonations.

This will end Davrin's storyline. The companion will receive the Hero of the Veilguard status - obtaining it will make him better at the task you can assign him to during the penultimate story quest.
