Dragon Age Veilguard: Lucanis quests Dragon Age Veilguard guide, walkthrough

Assassin and member of the Ravens Lucanis is one of the companions in Dragon Age Veilguard. On this page of the guide we will tell you how to complete all the quests related to his storyline.

Last update: 15 November 2024

You will meet Lucanis for the first time when visiting the Crows in Treviso. After freeing him from his underwater prison, the demon-tormented assassin will join your party. On this page of the guide you will find a detailed walkthrough of Lucanis' storyline, including all the quests related to him.

Coffee with the Crows

After releasing Lucanis from prison and completing the first task in Treviso, the Crow assassin will move into the Lighthouse. His small room is located just behind the dining room with the fireplace. Shortly thereafter, during one of the visits to the base, an exclamation mark should appear next to Lucanis' icon on the map. Speak with your companion to activate the Coffe with the Crows quest.

When visiting the Lighthouse between missions, keep an eye out for the exclamation points next to companion icons on the map. They symbolize the available quests associated with them. If you go too far with the the main storyline, some companions' quests may become unavailable later!

Lucanis' first quest takes you back to Treviso. Follow the quest marker to the local market. There, accompanied by the Crow, do some shopping for the party.

After shopping, you can go straight to the cafe. However, we recommend that you first stop by one of the side stands highlighted by the quest marker to complete an optional objective. If you buy Lucanis a gift, it will have a positive impact on your relation.

After reaching the cafe, you will have a conversation with Illario - Lucanis' cousin. During the conversation, you can choose several of the available answers. There is also a romance option (marked with a heart), thanks to which you can develop your romantic relationship. Once the conversation is over, the quest will end.

Bidding Farewell

To activate the next quest, speak to Lucanis at the Lighthouse again. This time he will ask you to accompany him during the preparations for Caterina's funeral. Travel back to Terviso where you will meet up with the Crows members.

During the conversation you can express your support or concern about Illario's strange behavior. Once the conversation is over, this short quest will end.

Bloodbath

This quest, depending on the decision you made at the end of chapter 6, may be part of Lucanis's storyline or a main story quest. For this reason, we have described it on a separate page of the guide.

A Murder of Crows

The final quest in Lucanis's story. You must go to the Dellamorte estate and save Caterina after she fakes her death. You can get to the villa through a secret passage under the bridge. Inside, be prepared to face Venatori cultists.

You will find Caterina on the top floor of the villa. After entering her room (and defeating many Venatori mages), the mission objective will change - you must go to the opera and stop the traitor, Illario. Go outside through the balcony - there's a short, linear path to the opera with no enemies.

Illario shouldn't cause you any trouble - he's a slightly improved Venatori executioner fighting with two scythes, just like Zara Renata from the previous mission. However, he does not possess her magic, so he is much less dangerous compared to her. Watch out for the slightly delayed scythe slashes and Illario's unique dash that creates a small explosion afterward. Illario can teleport - while he's gone, take out any mages shooting at you from the stage. Once you get rid of the regular enemies, Illario will be very easy to overwhelm.

After defeating Illario, Lucanis will have to decide what to do with the traitor - let him go free or imprison him.

  1. Letting Illario go will make Lucanis a more supportive companion - he gains an ability and legendary armor that increase party resistances, damage against barriers, and his detonations make enemies susceptible to necrotic damage.
  2. Imprisoning Illario will make Lucanis a more offensive companion - he will gain an ability and legendary armor that increase critical damage, detonation damage, stagger from detonations, and will deal increased damage to enemies suffering from negative status effects.

If you saved Minrathous instead of Treviso at the end of chapter six, you will have no choice. Lucanis will always imprison Illario.

Once you make the choice, the quest will be end. You now have to wait for the final conversation with Lucanis, which in our case occurred just before the point of no return. This conversation will end the thread. The companion will receive the Hero of the Veilguard status - obtaining it will make him better at the task you can assign him to during the penultimate story quest.
