This page of the Elex 2 game guide contains a walkthrough of the second mission of the Albs faction - The Duties of a Trooper. You will receive it from Azok after completing The Duties of a Scout. During the mission, you will have to choose which side you'd rather take - the Albs or Clerics.
- Meeting the Outlaws
- Conversation with Hagen and Viola
- Choice - Albs or Clerics?
- The way of the Albs
- The way of the Clerics
Meeting the Outlaws
Your first goal will be to explore the area marked on the map. You will meet a group of Outlaws there - approach them. A conversation with a character named Neil will start. It will show that the Outlaws have the notes necessary to continue the search - Neil will agree to sell them. If you have at least 40 Strength points, you can lower the price to 120 Elexit crystals. Otherwise, the total price will be 220 crystals.
Conversation with Hagen and Viola
The notes you've obtained will direct you to the Castle, specifically to the leader of the Clerics faction named Hagen. Talk to him. You will be referred to a woman named Viola who is also in the Castle.
After talking to Viola, talk to Hagen again. Hagen will now ask you for help and will encourage you to betray the Albs and turn to the Clerics' side. However, the dialogue options you select don't matter at this point. Regardless of the course of the conversation, you will be directed to the Albs unit and only there will you have to make the important decision.
Choice - Albs or Clerics?
The location of a woman named Shira will be marked on your map. Go there and listen to the conversation between the Albs. After a while, Shira will initiate a dialogue with Jax. You have to choose which side to take - the Albs or Clerics.
At this point, you're making the final decision - it cannot be undone. Your choice will determine which faction you can reach the highest rank in. This is also the only way to join the Clerics faction.
The way of the Albs
If you take the side of the Albs (by selecting the dialogue option to reject the Clerics), go back to Azok and inform him about the situation. He will agree to restore Jax to the rank of commander. After your character reaches at least level 30, you can advance to the highest rank in the Albs faction and thus complete the quest. You'll also get access to purchase the ultimate Alb armor.
Taking the side of the Albs is the only way to successfully complete The Duties of a Trooper. Choosing the side of the Clerics results in failing this mission.
The way of the Clerics
If you choose the Clerics path (by selecting the dialogue option with Clerics), you have to confront Shira. You can avoid fighting her if you have at least 60 Intelligence points. Otherwise, you have to kill Shira. She is quite a strong opponent, but the other Albs won't take part in the fight.
After resolving the situation with Shira, go back to Hagen in the Castle. After your character reaches at least level 30, you can advance to the highest rank in the Clerics faction. Thus, you will unlock access to the abilities of the Clerics, as well as the best Clerics armor.
After taking the side of the Clerics, you can still return to Azok. The Duties of a Trooper mission will fail, but you will not be attacked by the Albs.
